85x Sportline Plus - Canton Sound System very poor
Small update, having nothing better to do I cut the guides off the sub connetor and reversed the connection. Very little difference at all. I've came to the fairly obvious conclusion it's just cheap and nasty pretend subwoofer!. I have the car for another 30 months so I may take a trip to Autosounds and see what they suggest. I don't want masses of car rattling bass (it rattles on its own anyway!) just something with a decent clean thump! A seperate underseat sub may do the job.

Hi, Yes it's the 2024 with version 4.0 software, I know 4.1 is out now but so far no sign of an update. The running costs are just stupidly low!, I don't bother using Eco mode or make any real attempt at economy and I'm still getting about 3.5 miles per kWh so using Octopus Intelligent Go that's 2p a mile! or about 325 MPG

Thanks, no further forward really. Pulmans sales manager admitted it was very poor then after I raised a complaint with Skoda UK said there was nothing wrong with it. The actual Sub has very little output, it's only really audible with the front speakers off, as soon as you fade them back in it disappears and the bass from the front and centre speaker takes over. After blasting it for 6 months it's improved very slightly, what I now do is put the tracks I want to use in the car through a program called Audacity and boost the bass by 6db then save them to my mobile before using them. I'm afraid I won't be going anywhere near Pulman Durham ever again!, they used to be a lot better than their VW branch, I bought a couple of Yeti's from them previously. I'm not due to change cars until Jan 2027 (Motability) but unless Skoda have improved the software and phone system I think I'll be looking elsewhere. On the good side, the HUD is very good, the Matrix headlights work well and I'm getting about 3.5 miles per kWh while not making any attempt at economy!. Winter range was about 220, now I'm getting about 300 on the guess-o-meter Regards, Jeff

Had a bit of a play with this this morning. With the polystyrenr box removed there's a small increase in the output from the sub. Still barely noticeable with the front speakers in use. If you set the sound focus to the rear it makes a more noticeable difference as the rear speakers are quite poor and very lacking in bass. Centering the focus brings the front speakers back in and these overpower the sub. The sound isn't terrible but for a £2035 upgrade pack I really was expecting something much better.

I agree, and also about the Quality Street!, luckily I can get the Strawberry and Purple ones in bags on their own I'll email Skoda and see what they say, probably tough luck that's the way they are (same as my dealer told me). Once again thanks for all the help

No problem, you've been a lot more helpful than either Skoda UK or the 3 dealers I've tried. Mine said nothing wrong. Skoda Newcastle said talk to Skoda UK (who had already told me to talk to them) And Skoda Darlington said they could have a look but it's £126 for non-warranty inspection, it's only 3 weeks old!! Think I'll just have to accept I've wasted over £2000 on the Advanced pack and got a cr@p sound system. The HUD is nice, heated windscreen isn't needed with car pre-heating and the heated rear seats will never be used.

Thanks for the reply It's sat in a rectangular well in the under the boot floor, the speaker is in a platic box contained in a polystyrene outer shell.

New member Picked up a new 85x a couple of weeks ago with the Advanced pack added. In comparison to my previous Seat Ateca's standard sound system the Canton is not much of an improvement. Even setting the subwoofer to +9 makes almost no difference to it being at -9 and there's no great increase in bass. Compared to a previous Honda CRV with a sub it's completely lacking in any bottom end. Took it in to dealer who compared it to a 69 Superb and admitted the Superb was certainly louder but that it's just the way they are now!. I've asked on a couple of other Enyaq forums and most people say anything over +3 makes the boot and rear view mirror vibrate (as the Honda used to do). I've had the sub out of the boot and it's a 6" (15cm) speaker in a plastic box!. Is there anyone near the Durham/Newcastle/Sunderland area who has an Enyaq with the Canton system I could compare it to?
