  1. It is nice when we get good service even though that seems to be rare these days! Thanks again for the pointer towards the alternative app. Long live the essentials app 😁🤣
  2. I'm pleased to report that the My Skoda Essentials app latest version 5.8.5 has the missing functions reinstated! Skoda had emailed me previously and had tried to call me a number of times. I can't fault their service in this matter. Good to see things are back to normal!
  3. Ah this is what I saw too! A blank screen. Hence me updating the app! I'll have a look at the other app that you mentioned. Cheers! Edit. I loaded the Non-essenrials app and as you said it shows the full info and allows you to chose a charging plan etc. I assume they have made an error when they updated the essentials app. I've emailed them and am awaiting a response. I'll continue to check the essentials app when they update it as that had a better layout. Thanks again for the info.
  4. Hiya. Thanks for your reply. Nope. I did the one month free trial then subscribed for a year only 6 weeks ago. I can see lots of stuff just not the detailed charging info after the update on 26th April. Very frustrating!
  5. For a couple of days last week my app was showing no data at all. I updated the app and is now on version 5.8.4 dated 26th April 2024. The screen layout is different. I have to go via the 'total mileage' to see how many miles I have estimated on the battery alone. It no longer shows a % of battery level. It no longer says whether it is charging or not. It no longer gives access to the charging plans (or departure time etc). Am I doing something wrong or have they mucked up the latest version of the app? Thanks in advance for any help with this!
  6. Cheers MarkyG. That is very interesting indeed. I assumed they would bump you if you did that for more than a month. I might well have a go. I was able to select a 2kW 13A generic charger and they give me enough time for 100% charge. Maybe this is a new option. All going well so far.... I even put the heating on today and still had 5 miles remaining after my 25 mile commute. I'm more than happy with this car so far 😊👍
  7. I've been driving my 21 plate Superb IV for a week now, commuting 25 miles each way is going well on battery. I charge at home and at work. I'm with Octopus, initially on Economy 7. I had a smart meter fitted on Thursday and signed up for Octopus Intelligent Go yesterday. The car charged fine last night much to my relief! The car is now so cheap to drive locally, around 2.5p per mile! The effective mpg is insane! My question: Because Octupus are now in charge of the charging (so not using scheduled charging with the option of aircon), is there any way I can set up preheating/aircon to be done automatically? I assume I can manually turn it on prior to my departure which is fine but I wondered if any other methods existed. Cheers all, I'm absolutely blown away with this car 😊
  8. Many thanks for all of the advice and tips. Today's update: the car charged correctly and was nice and warm when I got in (heated from mains not battery). I did two trips today, both on battery alone. I achieved 30 miles, recharged and then another 31 miles later on. Slightly faster speeds than yesterday which maybe account for slightly lower range. Btw, Minimum charge is set to zero to avoid the immediate charge scenario. I'm enjoying the battery only driving as it let's me get a feel for what is achievable. It is all new and exciting lol. I'm generally driving with economy in mind as you have probably guessed So my commute seems to be quite do-able on battery alone which is fantastic. I also seem to be getting around 3 miles per kWh which I am very happy about. If the petrol benchmark is 14.4p/mile then I'm doing much better on battery. 142p(/litre) x 4.55 / 45mpg = 14.4p/mile for ICE. So on economy 7 at 15p/kWh it costs 5p/mile (equivalent to 129 mpg). In work at 25p/kWh it equates to 8.3p/mile, thus 78mpg. This seems incredible to me. This equivalent mpg is based on the cost of a gallon of fuel (say 646p) divided by electricity cost per mile of course. Roll on the intelligent octopus go for 7.5p/kWh..... approx. 2.5p per mile! Equivalent to 258 mpg? Seems far too good to be true. I'm already with Octopus or I'd happily have taken up your offer! Cheers. For now it appears that using the battery is far cheaper than using the ICE although I will of course use the ICE from time to time. I have lots to experiment with! All the best David.
  9. I just remembered something which may, or may not, be relevant. Last night when I went to bed I checked the Skoda app. It said.... remaining miles 11, battery level 0% (and not 30%, or whatever). I ended up reloading and playing with the app and after 10 mins it displayed a credible state of battery level. It is possible that interaction triggered some start of charge, or it is possible that I accidentally pressed Start Charge. I cannot prove one way or another, but the charging started at th4 same time I was using the app! Older age (not really old) and getting over the flu isn't doing my memory any good lol! Just for interest i took a pic of the car after my drive home. The traffic was poor and some queuing on the M4. Average speed 32mph. I did chuckle at the 300mpg shown 🤣
  10. Many thanks for the reply. I was driving cautiously. Much of the time the traffic was doing 50 or 60 mph due to it being a busy Monday morning. I did get up to 70mph. There are two hills on my route but mostly flat. The engine did kick in but I turned it off as soon as I noticed so that might have been on for half a mile or so. Unfortunately charging isn't free in work. This was my first go. 25p/kWh. I pay 15p/kWh on economy 7. I have a smart meter being fitted later this week and then I will move to Octopus Intelligent go for 7.5p/kWh. The Tapo is only there for power monitoring at the moment although I realise I could use this for time control (but don't see why I should need to). I have set schedules using both the car and the app. I certainly didn't do anything to the car at 10pm but that was a good thought! Yes battery is set to off for the Aircon and you are right, the time schedule is set for my cheap rate. I'll experiment with different permutations to see if I can glean anything. Maybr it just when rogue..... but I'm an engineer and things generally happen for a logical reason I don't think the Tapo is the cause as it has been ok for the previous nights. Of course if there was a glitch with it then that might start immediate charging. I shall experiment tmrw! I wasn't given a 13A charger lead with the car. The salesman said they weren't supplied when new...... lol 🙄 I appreciate your ideas!
  11. A very quick update on my 21 plate Superb IV saloon. Mileage 22200. Due to flu I have only driven the IV a few times since purchase, all on the battery. Today was my first commute, 25 miles 65% on motorway. It was 3C this morning. I managed to get to work with 8 miles remaining. Wow. I charged in work and the return journey was the same albeit at 10C temperature. 8 miles remaining. I certainly wasn't doing 70 for much of the journey but I am very pleased indeed with the indication of range. The car is SO comfortable and smooth. I'm very impressed. Question. Last week I had one schedule set up in the car for Fri/Sat/Sun. Charge from 00.30 until 07.00 (I have economy 7 for now. No aircon selected. A Tapo P110 smart plug with power measurement (set to permanent ON) confirmed the charge time was as requested. I'm using a 13A Masterplug charge lead. On Sunday I set up a second schedule, same times but with aircon on for a departure time of 6am. This was for Mon/Tues/Weds/Thurs so no overlap between the 2 schedules. I enabled both schedules. The car was nice and warm for me this morning BUT the car had started charging at 10pm and not 00.30 as expected. I haven't a clue why! Can anyone shed light on this seemingly bizarre situation. For tonight I have disabled the second schedule, not that I see that this has anything to do with it. I'm mystified! Many thanks David.
  12. Hi Crankcase! Thanks so much for this info, it was exactly what I was after. I am very embarrassed to report that I was on this screen a number of times yesterday to change other parameter! DOH. I have man flu so that is my only excuse 😁 My next question was going to be how to adjust the time for this function, unless it is fixed, but I assume the car works this out itself based on desired and ambient temperatures. Thanks again for your help. I'm sure I'll have lots more daft questions Cheers David.
  13. Hello! Apologies for noob questions, I have tried to search for the answers. I picked up my 21 plate Superb IV yesterday. I actually got it to charge overnight on a low tariff rate using the charge schedule in the car. I am using a Masterplug 13A charger. I'll use a Tapo P110 smart plug soon so I can remotely see if the car is charging..... just for interest. My question relates to thr Departure time. I assume this function allows heating/cooling before departure for a predetermined period. Can this be set up in the car or does this require the MySkoda app? The Care Connect - Remote Access has expired and so I would need to fork out £36 for one year's subscription. I'm very chuffed to have got the car to charge but setting the departure time temperature conditioning would be great. Is the Remote Access really worrh it? Thanks in advance for your help!
  14. Thanks for all of your input guys. I went and had a battery only test drive yesterday where I achieved 30 miles (plus 2 to go) driving in different conditions from 20mph zones to 70mph zones. I was certainly trying to eke the distance out (heater off) but I was suprised how good the range seemed (and so was the salesman!). After that I decided to buy the car and I will pick it up tomorrow 😊
  15. I just had a battery test report done and the capacity says 91%. Does this seem reasonable for a nearly 3 year old car with 22,000 miles? Higher would seem better but maybe this is acceptable. I have another test drive soon so I will see how many miles I get from the battery.
  16. Many thanks mcpollo and MarkyG82 for your replies. Very useful info. I am just trying to do everything I can to check the health of the car, especially the hybrid battery, before handing over my money. I'm going to see the dealer shortly and I will again push for a battery health check and a drive with a fully charged battery. I do realise winter range will be lower than summer. I would be very disappointed to find out there is some issue after I've bought it. Thanks again chaps! David.
  17. Hi all. Apologies if I'm out of order for posting in this thread but I assume the contributors are the right people to ask.... I'm on the verge of purchasing a 2021 Superb IV from a main dealer. I do realise that there is no point buying an IV unless one is fanatical about charging it (at home on a low cost rate). The car has done 22,000 miles and has been standing for 4 or 5 months. I'm concerned about the battery health. The main dealer is a battery specialist centre and so I think it sensible to ask them for a diagnostics report on battery health. This seems very sensible to me. No response about this request as of yet. They did replace the 12V battery as this had failed, which adds to my concern. Is there any way I can tell the batteries health apart from actually seeing how many miles I can do on battery alone which is obviously massively affected by temperature, driving style, ancillaries being on etc? I assume Skoda can check battery health since they warrant a minimum 70% after 8 years. I feel an air of caution especially since the car was standing for a while. Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry again if I shouldn't have posted on this thread.
  18. Hello everyone. I'm so glad to find this forum. I'm on the verge of purchasing a 2021 Superb IV from a main dealer. It should be a superb (!) replacement for my mondeo which I have driven into the ground... They did replace the 12V battery as this had failed... I'll post regarding this in a relevant sub forum. I hope to purchase this car and so I will be spending a lot of time on this forum 😁👍
