I want to change the steering wheel on my mk3 1.4 TSI 2014 from the standard 4 spoke that comes with the Elegance to a facelifted 3 spoke wheel, possibly a flat bottom, if I can get my hands on one. I have done a bit of browsing on ebay but I am getting confused with all the different part numbers that come up. I believe my steering wheel is either a 3E0419091AC or a 5E0419091AC, picture below, but I wouldn't know for certain without taking the airbag off first. Can I simply switch to any wheel avaliable in the mk3 line-up? Of all the numbers listed in the part number, which are the most important to follow? I have found a 5E0419091AP that I would like to swap it out for but I am concerned the buttons won't work if I buy the wrong thing. Am I getting too caught up in the part numbers or is there a system that I should be following to make sure all of the buttons work once I have swapped the wheel? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
