  1. Shame I can't make it as I'm away with the band :(
  2. I've just had to replace the LED third brake light in my 03 vRS estate which come as a single unit at a cost of £58 from a skoda dealer
  3. Im another 22 year old Octy vRS owner and even with 3yrs no claims, pass plus and institute of advanced motorists credition my insurance is around £1300 on a completely standard 03 vRS. It does make you wonder whether this new breed of vRS owners are actually insured especially when you take into account some of the ridiculous modifications you sometimes see!
  4. I've had this problem once in the past on a 306. Problem was eliminated by fitting Black Diamond Combi Discs(drilled & grooved)
  5. Hello and welcome! I own an Octavia VRS estate and would recommend Skoda to anyone, dealers are always helpfull and pleasant whenever my VRS needs a service etc. Apart from services my VRS has never had to go back to the dealer for any other reason.
  6. It is odd and the only explanation I can think of is that I have a suspicion the car has been remapped by the original owner.
  7. im considering upgrading my head unit on the octy vRS, the only question i have is, most HUs support 4x speaker output where the octy vRS has an 8 speaker surround sound system as standard. will this mean a new HU will only use 4 of the existing 8 speakers?
  8. Is there anyway of removing this feature or switching it off in VAG vehicles?
  9. I get about 5-10mpg more, average when cruising at 80-85 than i do at 70-75!
  10. I use just the ordinary car shampoo on a fortnightly basis then use something stronger like wonder wheels or autoglym now and again to really clean them up! but again they key is not to leave the stuff on for too long. If you've got the patience then using a wheel polish is well worth it to stop brake dust etc encrusting on your rims!
  11. Unfortunately unless you have the kit required to diagnose faults you are left with little choice. With my last car (Peugeot 306 D Turbo) the airbag warning light came on, the fault was only a wiring problem but the dealer explained he had to charge me the diagnostic labour rate of £70ph. So for a simple bit of re-wiring it cost me the liberty of £70 + VAT
  12. The splutter is probably a combination of things. First of all Skoda recommend use of a high octane (97-99octane) or premuim fuel for the vRS, I personally use Shell V Power although I am keen to try Tesco 99 Octane. And secondly I would try and keep the Octavia above 1750rpm. That and the combination of a high octane fuel should at least reduce the problem. Fuels I would recommend: Shell V Power BP Ultimate Tesco 99 Octane
  13. Thanks for the info guys looks like some cash needs to be assigned to the remap fund!
