  1. For any stumbling across this in future... I successfully installed the new stereo using a fuse tap off an empty slot in the fuseboard (START-STOP (Slot 1)) to provide power to the red cable. Next, I aim to install a sub. I know smaller units can run from the fuseboard. I am going to buy a bigger unit and hope that I dont have to wire directly to the battery. If anyone knows - please let me know. Otherwise I will post my findings.
  2. Ok I think i've figured it. The stereo is 15amp. So I should buy a 15amp fuse tap and put it into the ignition fuse on the fusebox, then wire this up into the stereo ignition lead - that should solve my problems?
  3. Hi all, I've been creeping on this forum a while. I have a much loved 2012 1.2Tsi Mk2 Monte Carlo and have finally come to a point whereby I want to upgrade the whole sound system - starting with the stereo. I've bought a double din sony for £350 (recommended by store - can provide full model name) and am planning to install it and a sub initially. I've watched countless videos and feel confident about how to go about changing the stereo, however in store they told me I will need to connect the red cable to a fuse in the fuse box. I haven't seen this in any of the videos or literature that i've read and am completely lost as to what/how I am to do about this. I've searched this forum but couldn't find anything to provide clarity. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  4. I'm by no means an expert, but I had a power steering fluid leak and regularly replaced the steering fluid for a period. Yes - suck out the old fluid. Then turn the wheels full lock in one direction - more fluid will come into the chamber which you can then suck out. Again, full lock the other way. Suck out the fluid. Add in your fluid to the correct level. Go for a quick drive, it is likely that some air will have moved as the fluid moves through the system. Opening the tank will release that air. The fluid level may have changed - top up - complete.
