Still having the same issues, have explored some other avenues without luck yet, the problem is we're quite remote and local garages won't look at electrical faults so we're a bit stuck. Had a VCDS scan done using a mates scanning tool, there are a few suspect fault codes stemming around the drivers area which is where the water ingress occured originally (now sealed so it's drying out). if anyone has experience interpreting VCDS and could point me in the right direction would be much appreciated! UPDATE: Had a mechanic out to look and after turning the key first time the car started I couldn't believe it(!) magic touch! But it kept cutting out and was running rough with 01314 code persisting. I had had the canbus out a few days in the dry and had only just put it back so suggested it might be that, although he dismissed the canbus logic. He did point out that the starter cable points on both ends in the engine bay looked quite corroded and might be the cause of the no start. A few more days passed and a lot more rain, went to start it to drive to garage and no crank again, back to square one! Today I cleaned and grinded the corroded points connected to the starter but still no dice, same issues. The pillar and floor on the driver side is sopping wet (I haven't been able to seal the roof rail fixing area due to all the rain). It must be related to water ingress to the electrics in the cabin... possibly canbus. If I fitted a temporary replacment canbus would I be able to tell if that has solved it without having to recode it ?

@aiddas I've had similar problems with water ingress and drivers footwell wet and now potential water ingress to canbus and/or other electronics in the cabin. After checking the drains in the scuttle tray (they were fine), I noticed water coming down the pillar, typically you'll notice watermarks on the fabric lining or in my case was sopping wet. It was coming down through the roof rail fixings above the drivers side and running down the pillar and eventually on the floor. If that's the case with yours it needs sealing asap...

As far as I know there's the main relay in the engine bay and then a number of relays in the cabin behind the drivers side lower panel. For my mk2 octavia I'm guessing it might be one of the relays in the cabin, possibly "1. supply voltage relay" or "3. supply voltage relay (50)" in the diagram below. Do you remember if the relay he replaced was in the engine bay or inside the car? Thanks!

UPDATE: I gave up trying to get the canbus module out from the interior as it was so far back behind all the relays and wiring, so followed this very good guide on how to remove it from the outside: https://www.r32oc.com/threads/canbus-gateway-location-removal.29242/ The good news is the canbus itself and connector both look bone dry and I think I can rule that out, the bad news is I've still not found the root of the issue. I would quite like to inspect the canbus module PCB though, does any one know how to release the 4 clips without damaging the plastic housing? Tomorrow I need to check the connector points for the lower mounted internal relays and inspect for damp/corrosion etc there. One of the relays there did have what looked like a drip of water on the surface so we'll see. But my thoughts now are back to being that the fault is most likely rooted in the wiring loom to the ECU under the battery tray or somewhere around that area.

Thanks for the insight mate, I wondered about the BCM/canbus connection especially with the water ingress, that was going to be my next port of call it's quite low right at the back so a bit of a b*gger to get to but would definitely be worth checking if I can. I tried a new battery as the first potential remedy but didn't solve it unfortunately. :(

Hi Alasdair, yes it looks like it from the photo but I'm guessing would have been cut a while ago as we haven't had any work done on this area of the car previously. I found the schematic (attached) for this upper relay area above the central control unit which is the LHD version (ours is RHD) so image needs to be flipped. You can see from the photo in the 1st post we appear to only have 3 relays in that module (507, 646 and the unidentified taped up one). According to the schematic the taped up one must be D5.2 relay for heating element, 507 must be starter relay and 646 the horn. None of the other relays in the schematic apply as they're for things this car doesn't have. So even if the taped up D5.2 relay were faulty/wet or badly wired I'm assuming it's unlikely it would be the cause of the 01314 code... so time to look elsewhere I'm guessing unless you think the cut wire could be related. Oh and forgot to mention, in the 3rd photo of the taped up relay there's what appears to be a loose black wire top middle of the image with some white tape wrapped around it. Possibly has always been like that or at least since the diy wiring job but I don't know for sure and until I know what that relay is for it's hard to say whether it would be the cause of the 01314 code.

Good evening, I'm having a major headache troubleshooting a 01314 fault code no communication with ECU. Have tested all fuses (not contacts), tested the main 100 relay in the engine bay as well as some of the relays under the steering wheel. The car was driving fine the night before it happened then went to start the next morning and dash lights come on with a few errors not seen previously, most of them related to 01314 code. I've had the battery tray out to inspect the wiring and there's one suspect plug connector junction which was very damp although had it open today and seemed dry inside the connector. The exposed coloured wires might need a closer look, I've attached a photo, possibly a coroded wire there but it was hard to tell with all the oil residue and muck so will give it a good clean up tomorrow. The other suspect thing is the drivers footwell is sodden with water coming down the inner pillar onto the floor. I'd sealed this before but the seal looks like it's disintegrated. Possibly related to that one of the relays in the area where the water ingress may have impacted is all taped up and looks like someone's previously done a diy wiring job on it all wrapped in electrical tape (photo attached) and not fixed to the relay panel where it should be, so I can't tell exactly what the relay controls and whether that might be a culprit for the 01314 code. The car is a 2013 1.6 greenline mk2 octavia CAYC I've scoured the forums for days now and had a lot of help along the way thanks to all the previous troubleshooting but now running out of ideas. Any help much appreciated!

Thanks for the reply, yes that would make more sense. I searched the part number and one of the listings came up with this description: SKODA PRESSURE THRUST SENSOR FOR AIR BAG 1K0955557B which is what led me down that way of thinking. I've found an O ring which fits where the missing gasket is, hopefully that will suffice. I was just concerned that the gaskets were somehow integral to function and would rather avoid any airbag misfires etc!... 😳

I've been drilling out the rivets in the door panel which houses the window regulator and as they sent a completely new panel (with regulator installed) I've also had to drill the rivets out for both the speaker and airbag pressure sensor. The problem is the drill damaged the little gaskets on the airbag sensor housing which I'm assuming help create a sealed space so that the pressure reading can be accurate. The question is to anyone who might know, can this sensor be reinstalled with one damaged gasket or would it be advisable to get a replacement. Desperate to get it all put back while the weathers good, any advice much appreciated! See attached photo of damaged gasket.
