  1. This wear on the inside edge of the rears seems very common. The other half had her rear tyres changed at 30 000 with uneven wear on a 2.0 TDI L&K. My vRS TDI estate is sill on originals at 54 000! Carting a boot load of tools and spares around every day too! Check them regularly and seem to be wearing evenly, but getting a bit noisy now though!! Fronts lasted to 42 000 also. Think you are a bit unlucky. Still, good point about keeping an eye on tread depth across the WHOLE tyre!
  2. 420 miles indicated. Never shows more than 460 miles on trip computer. But normally get 500-550 miles on a tank full. Seems it likes to be pessimistic. 39500 and original tyres still not down to wear indicators!!
  3. Pilot Primacy's. Harder compound? Not renowned for being light on the right boot! Plenty of motorway miles though.
  4. Erm....37000 on original Pilots and not down to wear indicators! Fronts 2-2.5mm, rears 3-3.5mm. Bit skittish in the wet but lease company won't replace them until they are down to the limit.
  5. On Really cold mornings mine will take a couple of goes to fire up. It'll kick but doesn't catch on first try. But I don't have to crank it over for long. So probably nothing to worry about.
  6. Car went into dealers today. Fault code suggested problem with Exhaust High Pressure Sensor. Apparently Skoda say that there is a pipe that goes to the high pressure sensor and this can get blocked or restricted. They cleaned it out, so we'll see if this sorts the problem. This was the second problem with the exhaust monitoring system. Had CO2 sensor replaced last year. Niggles on an otherwise great car. Would still get another.
  7. Is there any reason why this DPF regeneration has to be done in 4th or 5th gear? 2000rpm in 6th is 70mph which is a reasonable thing to do as I cover a lot of motorway miles. I guess slipstreaming some trucks at 56mph for a while should do the trick? Having said all this I have only seen the DPF light once in just over a year and 37500 miles and that was last week when the Engine light had been on for 3 days and the car was running rough as old boots:thumbdwn:
  8. Thats what I thought. If you don't regenerate the DPF in the prescribed manner then the Exhaust System light will come on followed by the Glow Plug light? So the Exhaust System warning light coming on without the DPF warning light would indicate a problem elsewhere. Contrary to what my dealer suggested to me recently.
  9. Thanks for the advice guys. I assume that you would only carry out the DPF regeneration procedure if the DPF light comes on? Because of the motorway driving I do I haven't seen the DPF light come on. Sounds like the smoke (which is noticeable in the rear view mirror at 70mph) is not normal. Will get dealer to look at it tomorrow.
  10. AA came out last week and said the error code was PO471 - Exhaust Pressure Sensor. Mentioned this to my Skoda garage and they said that this error doesn't mean anything to them. Car ran for 4 days with Exhaust system warning light on coupled with regular smoke emissions from exhaust. Then went off yeaterday. Going into dealers tomorrow to be looked at.
  11. What are you criteria apart from cost? ie Longevity Vs Grip. My vRS estate still has the original pilots on at 37500 miles! Grip is not great though when giving it a bit of welly. Cheap tyres can wear much quicker so cost more in the long run. Just my thoughts. Bob
  12. Hi Guys, When the DPF regenerates do you tend to see a cloud of smoke from the exhaust? My 56 plate vRS TDI regularly emits a significant cloud of smoke particularly when I have been running at the 2-2500 RPM mark for a time. Cheers, Bob
  13. Hi Guys, I have a 56 plate vRS TDI Estate and I occasionally notice a big cloud of smoke from the exhaust. Is this just the DPF regenerating or am I looking at something more serious. I've had the car looked at before and the garage said that it is just the DPF. I'm not sure because the Engine Management light comes on (the one that looks like an engine) but not the Particulate Filter light ( the one that looks like a bottle filled with dots!). It's true that I do a fair bit of town driving in London but I have 60-70 miles of Motorway at each end of the day where I would have thought the DPF would regenerate easily. Anyway, any thoughts or ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
