  1. a00e679c-fc5f-4c8a-940c-dd285e801e1c.m4a Hello. I am new here and would be grateful for your diagnostic thoughts. I have a 76k DSG 4x4 2014 superb. Serviced DSG (45k) and no gearing issues whatsoever. It shifts smoothly/appropriately and there are no unwanted noises when it is pulling or shifting. I have a new rattle from the engine when it starts up. Sounds like it is the DMF is failing given that it has that characteristic 'pebble' bouncing around sound. have heard the DMF is a common failure. I am more concerned that there is also a soft grinding noise when I am approaching a stop and coasting while the DSG drops down through the gears. It doesn't seem to matter whether it has been on a good long run or not and is not a high-pitch rattle like the 'DMF pebble bouncing around' but more of a soft grind. It is still in mechanical warranty from the dealer (second hand warranty) and they won't cover the DMF I don't think as flywheels are not covered in their terms. Not the end of the world but I am more worried that the grind could be an issue with the DSG. This would be covered under the warranty. Feel like a bit of a mug for buying this now but it drove beautifully when I tested it and didn't hear any of the noises at the time. Paperwork/services couldn't be better. I want to have a strategy before I take it to them as I am sure they will say it's the DMF and that it isn't covered. Don't want to do the DMF and then find the noise persists and find that I have spent £600 unnecessarily fixing the DMF for them. The question is can the DMF cause the grinding sound I am hearing too?? Any advice / diagnostic thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks That audio is just the idling rattle that I assume is DMF failing.
