  1. I got this sorted by a garage in North London: https://audivwsc.co.uk/ They were able to restore full functionality using the part I had fitted, without the original part to copy the coding from. The cost was £115, they had the car a couple of hours. I can't recommend them highly enough. All in, I saved myself a bit on the cost of having the whole job done by a garage, but not much.
  2. Hi all, My clockspring died (I suspect a garage that worked on my car damaged it, but can't prove it). After reading around the internet including on this forum, I decided to take the plunge on replacing it myself. Mechanically that was a success, but many of the stalk controls and the airbag are still non-functional. The clockspring I bought (from ebay) came with the stalks. I tried talking to my local main dealer, and they refused to entertain the idea of recoding the clockspring that I've fitted. I've read further (here: ) And it seems that even with the same hardware part number, there may be differences in software versions that can prevent a clockspring which is mechanically compatible from being logically compatible. So my questions are: 1. Is it likely that some/all of the stalk controls would work if I replaced the original stalk controls in the car with the ones that came with the clockspring which I bought (I'd find this out by just trying it out, but my wife's out with the car right now). 2. If I want to try to recode the clockspring myself, is an OBDeleven sufficiently capable, or are more powerful (and expensive) tools (the one from ross-tech, or ODIS) needed? Would the first gen OBDEleven suffice (given my car is an octavia, I don't need the device to work with other brands) or would I need the next gen model? 3. Can anyone recommend any garages in London or the south east of England where they've had recoding done who I could talk to, to save me calling round loads of places? Thanks all. Tim.
  3. Hi all, I've been browsing this forum as a guest for some time - I'm now on my third Skioda (Fabia mk1, Octavia mk2, Octavia mk3). I've had a lot of great information from the posts here, which I'm grateful for. Signed up finally as I have a question I need to ask. Thanks, Tim.
