In case this is of help to anyone with a similar issue: I have a 2018 Octavia Scout 2.0 TDI with DSG. Since I can remember, I have been getting the “Only leave vehicle in Position P” message. But only in different circumstances to anything I’ve read about on this or other forums, as follows: 1 It only ever happens when the car is stationary and the boot lid is left open. 2. It is intermittent and random, but once it starts it won’t stop until I intervene. 3. I can make it stop by opening another door, moving the boot lid slightly or turning the ignition on and off, after which it may or may not come back on again later. 4. If I fool the system into thinking the boot is locked by manually closing the boot locking mechanism ( so that the open door light on the dash extinguishes) it doesn’t stop it happening. 5. I’ve fitted the microswitch override kit for the gearstick but it’s still happening. The rather unsatisfactory solution has been to remove the electric boot lid fuse from behind the glovebox, or keep the door closed. In my case the latter is not practical since I need constant access to the boot when at work.
