  1. I finally got round to hardwiring my footwell lights. https://imgur.com/a/GU8FHvH Unfortunately I go to bed so early that I've not been able to see them in the dark but I think they'll be good. It was really easy to do but, if I did it again, I'd crimp wires together to make them longer before I started. Here's a list of everything I used: 12v to 5v converter: https://amzn.to/3VDcFfh Fuse tap set (you only need mini fuse taps, so you can save some money and buy only those): https://amzn.to/45irPtN The lights (didn't come with double sided tape, as I expected them to): https://amzn.to/45i19t3 3M pads (really sticky and easy to cut to size): https://amzn.to/3XfQ8qh Wire crimper/stripper with accessories (insane value for money): https://amzn.to/45nMoFi Extra wire (crimp before installation. You can cut it later): https://amzn.to/4aXCoUf You'll also need a T20 screwdriver to remove the radio, behind which everything is hidden. I didn't film it, unfortunately, but I'd be happy to go out and do a quick "how to video", if anyone wants one. You can see wires and the lights in the video but they're invisible otherwise. The thick, black wire you can see is for an Android Auto/Apple Carplay screen on my dash. These lights are controlled by a temperamental app but I set my colour no problem and don't plan to change it; you might want a remote control, which means you'll have to make sure the IR sensor comes out. There is a HUGE number of colour options and it can fade, strobe, change to different colours gradually, go along with your music etc. My kids are 1 and in rear facing baby seats; when they're older I'll install the second light bar under the passenger seats, assuming I still have the car. I also have a spare USB port now, which might come in handy later. The video again: https://imgur.com/a/GU8FHvH I'm happy to answer any questions! Cheers.
  2. Oh well, it won't bother me, then. Thanks again.
  3. I think I might have used fuse 54: START-STOP - instrument cluster
  4. Here are the lights, if anyone cares: https://imgur.com/a/4kKBMQX Hardwired today and I picked a random, empty fuse slot; I'll need to check what slot I picked but could that be causing the light to come on? EDIT: The mess is old but clean baby clothes I need to donate and meant to do so today but looking after my now-bigger babies put a stop to that!
  5. It may have been there a while but tonight I noticed my DPF light went on when I turned the electrics on. When the ignition went on, it disappeared. I didn't drive the car, as I was just checking out footwell lights I'd installed since it was a bit darker. Is this normal or should I worry?
  6. Thanks a lot. Does it have that coffee logo? If so, any idea how you turn it off after 2 hours' driving, or however long it takes to go on.
  7. Some man. Thanks again.
  8. This is the first reply I've ever had on here so thank you so much! I'm really confused about what part I need. I have a 2011 Fabia Elegance TDI CR 105. Both Ebay and the seller say this won't fit, for example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162770388031?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=747cIYBHQzm&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=7jHjgA_FRCK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY If a component for a 2007-14 Fabia won't work then what will?
  9. Sorry for the double post; don't know how I managed that. To be specific, it's a 2011 Fabia Elegance TDI CR 105. I know the parts aren't hugely expensive but it would fair add up if I kept ordering wrong parts and had to return them to China every time! There's a really good Indian guy on YouTube who has a Skoda Laura and I'm worried mine requires the same work, despite looking completely different. He needed an extra wire and VCDS. Here's his video and his channel is worth a look: https://youtu.be/35M3el1OUDk?si=dbuiMKrrSxmcLe2y
  10. I know there was a a thread or threads on this a while back but I'm not sure what I need. I have a 2011 Skoda Fabia MK2 Elegance and want to do this retrofit. I can't see an OEM part number anywhere on my light unit but I've attached pics, nonetheless. Is anyone able to have a quick look on ebay or AliExpress and tell me what I need? I'd prefer this to be plug and play, without VCDS. Ebay says this won't fit, for example, so I'm a bit lost: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162770388031?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=747cIYBHQzm&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=7jHjgA_FRCK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Please ignore my rather dainty foot positioning. Thank you!

  12. I don't think this is what you mean by "alternatives" but I just bought one of the highest rated Android Auto/Apple Carplay screen on Amazon. The only thing with mine is that calls are awful through AUX, to the extent they're pointless. I also wish I'd gone for one with screen mirroring, so my wife could drive when there's a game I want to watch on 😂. A bit of 3M and wire hiding - you can only do this to an extent if you go down the AUX route but FM transmitter would be invisible - and it pretty much looks built in. I was going to go for a built in screen but I thought it would be too low for sat nav etc. and dangerous to look at. I suspect it can be hard wired but I don't want to cut off the cigarette lighter just in case, as I can't find a replacement anywhere and they say they don't sell them separately.
  13. This is what I see when I remove my light control. Unfortunately, I think I'll need mine coded.
  14. Hello, I realise this thread is rather old but I'm wanting to retrofit auto lights, preferably without VCDS. Does anyone know if the following items would be plug and play (plus a fuse change)? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162770388031?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=747cIYBHQzm&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=7jHjgA_FRCK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196256961076?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=jUS2SSVBRoy&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=7jHjgA_FRCK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY If it does need coding and anyone can do it for me, I'm in Livingston, Scotland. I have a Skoda Fabia Elegance Estate. Reg is SM11KDO if that helps at all. Thanks
