Dealer servicing and software update - AU
I had been to the dealer like 6 times in 3 years( 3 times for annual service, 1 recall and other 2 times warranty related ). I got a free loan car each time but no offer for latest software update recently. I'm still on 1896.

Octavia vRS FL first impressions
Great read and very informative. How's the new exhaust sound? I'm considering MK4.5 or Golf GTi Mk8.5 in 2026.. One of my pet peaves with my mk4 VRS is the complete lack of aural excitement from the exhaust system.

Car locked with key inside Beware
It happened to me too last year. I have an Australian market 2021 Mk4 VRS wagon. After tennis training, I left my key in a bag pack in the car boot and got locked out when I shut the boot before unlocking the doors. I was en route to a tennis final match with my team mates waiting at another club so i was panicking big time as my spare keys had flat battery too when i got it later. I managed to get in eventually via the front passenger side with the spare key fob emergency key. First time doing it so it's not easy when I was flustered. What a pain and stressful episode.

vRS v GTI v Fermentor v Leon
If you can wait for the 2025 VRS update, the extra power and reported exhaust improvement will make it more appealing in terms of performance. I have a VRS wagon with DCC for a few years now and i chose it over Mk8 Gti. I still enjoy it mostly as daily driver with a good mix of practicality, comfort and performance. The only negatives is the complete lack of exhaust note for a performance car, fake engine sound, slightly spongy throttle response and sometimes flaky infotainment system. I'm interested in the 2025 update.

Suggested engine oil for mkIV
Like you I'm a little tempted to use the 5W30 I have for the Mk4 over summer months. My other car Subaru Brz with high compression use 0W20 too but I chose to use 5W20 after its break in period for winter months and will use 5W30 over summer with 6 monthly change instead of the factory 12 mth interval.

FL VRS?
Wow...the price is really high in EU compared to Australia. Yeah I do expect the price to rise but I hope it will still be competitive in its price segment. I'm curious about the 2025 RS update especially the factory exhaust update, as the lack of exhaust sound of my current VRS is a major let down. My lease will run out in 18 months and i will consider it if the update/extra power/new exhaust will improve the sporty package enough.

Suggested engine oil for mkIV
I have a 2021 RS TSI ( Australia delivery). Can I use VW 504 00/507 00 - 5W30 ( Castro Edge LL) ? I know the super thin 0W20 is recommended but that's more for emission/regulation target rather than long term engine health.

FL VRS?
15% more! That's discouraging. My current RS lease runs out in 20 months. Wonder if I will be tempted to update or get an EV to replace it.

Throttle lag gone
Got an EVC throttle controller on sale and the install was super easy. It really helps with the spongy throttle and now feels more immediate/direct. I'm glad I gave it a go after seeing your post. Wished I had done way earlier. Enjoying the car more after the simple mod. I settled on Ultimate 3 with my VRS. I tried Ultimate 5 and 9 briefly, torque steer galore and front wheel hoping/ understeer out of corner...haha.

Throttle lag gone
Thanks mate. Will give one a go and there's sale going. I found modulating the throttle a bit frustrating at times coming from my other cars.

Throttle lag gone
I'm piqued. Are you using it on a Mk4 VRS?

Octavia RS Front Foglight water ingress ...removal?
I had tried the hair dryer too a few weeks ago and the moisture/ droplets reduced by quite a bit at the time but overnight, it's back on the front panel.

Octavia RS Front Foglight water ingress ...removal?
hi Mario, Thanks for sharing your experience and issue trying to remove it. I was hoping it would be a bit easier. It's due for a service in the coming months and I will try my luck to see if they can fix it under warranty. If not, I will have a go eventually.

Octavia RS Front Foglight water ingress ...removal?
Hi guys, Just curious if anyone here has tried to remove the Mk4 front fog light assembly in the past? My left front fog light has lots of water droplets inside permanently for a few months now and it looks awful. It doesn't evaporate with heat/sunlight. Winter weather now is not helping. Trying to see if it's simple enough to remove without removing the whole bumper. Any service manual floating around?
