  1. Have exactly the same rattle in my car - I thought it was the glasses holder but adding some tape did nothing to change the rattle - seems to come from the front end of the sunroof - the trim is a little loose there - attempts to stop it have failed so far. Some times the rattle is quite prominent and others hardly there at all - don't really know why.
  2. You loose quite a lot of headroom having the panaromic roof - if you have a 6'7" son like me then it might not be a good idea - he fit fine in the same car without the roof. However, it is huge and makes the car seem even more light and airy - and it is great when it is open. I think because it is so big that you tend to open it more. I had a standard sunroof on a Nissan Primera and I never used it.
  3. Had similar problem with mine - motor in one of the arms was not working and it was replaced under warranty
  4. This was happening in my car as well. would always close at night whether there was rain or not. When you untick the 'rain closing' option on maxidot it stops closing automatically - it is a pity because I would like the option for 'rain closng' in the summer (but I would also more likely close the blind in that time of the year).
  5. I had KESSY in my 2011 Superb and have it in the FL 2013 superb. It appears that they have improved the system slightly - in my 2011 car the system would frequently struggle to find the key to start the car -frequently I would have to fish the key out and place it closer to the button - this did not change even with frequent changes to the battery in the remote - but with the FL car this does not seem to occur at all- the key is always found first time.
  6. With regard to the engine being not as quick - I recently changed my car to a 170 and would have said that it was not as quick as my previous car - also a 170. Initially I thought it might have something to do with the start-stop technology present on this one but not on my previous one but actually I think that it is just the new engine is very tight - these engines are really sweet when they loosen out (this is my 3rd - one manual and 2 DSG) - but it does take a couple of thousand miles to do that.
  7. No choice of colours on the steering wheel, handbrake or the front fascia - all brown. The foot rests are just little bumps that are detachable. The I Panasonic sunroof is really nice and I like the fact that you can open it. The ivory interior with silver is unusual but i just prefer that colour interior
  8. After 4 days and a massive 200km on the clock I thought I would give my first impression. For some reason -either the silver colour or the facelift - the car just looks bigger from the outside even though it is the same size as my previous one. The engine is still very tight and I look forward to enjoying it a little more when I have a few thousand on the clock. The hardest thing for me (and the family) to get used to is the start stop system. The silence in traffic or at stop lights is very strange. And then it does take a time to get going - I think it is a matter of me getting used to it. The engine sounds different to my previous car even though it is exactly same engine - it starts much quicker and is generally much quieter - I don't know why and wonder if the soundproofing has been improved. The panoramic sunroof is great for letting light into the car. Inside you still feel like you are in the old car as not much has changed - the only difference is the L& K trim. So far no strange noises and everthing seems to be working - hopefully it continues this way.
  9. Just picked up my new L&K on Monday - now have a massive 100km recorded (haven't had much of a chance to try it out yet - start/stop thing is still freaking me out a traffic lights). As a result of this converstation I had to go and look to see if these doors were missing! - both cubby holes have doors on them - on the drivers side is the one with the first aid sign. The car comes with the aluminium and soft partitioners as well as a net - I did not get the net with my previous Elegance model.
  10. I think the tint is just an illusion - in reality it is not nearly as dark as that! In fact when you are close to the car it would be difficult to tell which windows are tinted. Must be my magic photography skills - I wish! With regard to the Rosso colour - I have had 2 cars in this colour and cannot say a bad thing about it - just wanted a change - I haven't had a silver car since the Superb I that I owned and I just thought I would go back to that. I did take the slightly unusual (and not recommended) option of having ivory leather with the silver - we will see how that slightly risky decision works out.
  11. I have the alcantra leather and heated seats and I initially found that the seats are quite narrow and in my case the raised part on the legs of the drivers seat near the memory switches was initially quite uncomfortable. It took a bit of getting used to but once you do, the seats are very comfortable and not had any complaints. I have had no complaints with regard to the back support and the adjustability of the lumbar support is very good. And on long journeys being able to turn on the seat heating has been a great help even if it is only for a short period of time.
  12. My last 2 cars were Rosso Brunello - love this colour but needed a change
  13. Next week I say goodbye to my Superb Combi Elegance 170DSG and hello to my new Superb Combi L&K 170DSG - my sixth Skoda! (2 1st generation Octavias, 1 1Superb I and 1 Superb II saloon and now 2 combis. Got a look at my new car as it arrived at the garage on Friday - still wrapped in swaddling but looks good. Should be able to get my hands on it early next week My old Superb has only 32K (miles) on the clock and has been great. No mechanical difficulties - just a short circuit in the electrical outlets when new which was easily fixed. Has had no other work under warranty. My first time having a car with DSG and it is absolutely brilliant - will be hard to ever go back to a manual again. My son is 6'7'' and this is the only car that could fit him (that I can afford). I replaced the DRLs with the controversial LED lights referred to in other strings of the forum. I never had any canbus issues and never had any issues with them damaging the fitting - maybe because it tends to be dark/raining for longer in Ireland - so we don't use them as much! I have the 18'' wheels - I don't find the ride too bad but they are a b**ch to avoid kerbing -all of the wheels have some level of damage - I don't think the L&K ones are going to be any better! I find the space in the Combi brilliant - I have managed to take a garage full of junk to the dump using just this car and while the car may not be the widest in the world it had more than ample length to make up for it. In fact I find the narrowness of the car make driving it much easier - you never really feel like you are in a big car because you don't take up so much width on the road. Here a few pictures of new and old!
  14. Just accidently cracked the driver side rear light on my Superb Combi thanks to a shopping trolley falling off a footpath - any one got an idea of the bill I am facing to replace? Not able to see it in stock in any online stores.
  15. Just fitted the LEDs purchased on e-bay mentioned in the previous message and they look great
  16. I believe it is to do with the KESSY system - as a reminder to follow the manual when locking the car. If you are not careful with the keyless entry system you can leave the car unlocked. I had a 2009 superb and did not get this message but I do with my my new combi with keyless entry
  17. Apologies - did not mean to advertise for the dealer - I was just lazy with the white out
  18. Took delivery of Combi yesterday - it is beautiful and in Rosso Brunello too! Ivory interior with Black carpets 170CR DSG, Hill Hold, Sunset Glass, Electric Boot, MIDI connection, Heated Windscreen, 18' Thermisto Alloys - real nice First owned automatic - that is taking a little getting used to but it is incredibly smooth.
  19. Today with a heavy heart I say goodbye to my 2009 Superb Elegance CR170 Manual Rosso Brunello - no extras - what a great car! Only 18K Miles (30K KM). My 4th Skoda and I have to say the best by far - 1999 Skoda Octavia - 1.6 petrol - sounded like a diesel but wasn't. 2000 Skoda Octavia 1.9 diesel. 2003 1st Generation Skoda Superb - developed the usual water ingress problems but otherwise a beautiful car. 2008 BIG MISTAKE - Nissan Qashqai - developed diesel leakage, lost air conditioner coolant and rear shock absorbers had to be replaced - all within less than 18 months of ownership! 2009 Superb was great - only 2 problems both corrected by great dealership with no issues - controls on steering wheel including horn stopped working - initially thought to be loose connection but eventually control unit had to be replaced. Bluetooth unit stopped working and had to be replaced. The engine is truly fantastic and definitely the best that I have driven (my wife had a Ford ST170 and now has an Mazda RX8 so I will have to exclude them!!). I will be sorry the Superb go. Tomorrow, however, is a new day and I take delivery of my 2011 Superb Combi Elegance CR170 DSG Rosso Brunello with KESSY, 18' Thermisto alloys, sunset glass, hill hold and hopefully panoramic sunroof (not guaranteed by dealer - decided to keep this as surprise for my pick up) - will send first thoughts as soon as I get to drive! Goodbye 2009 Superb [/img] [/img]
  20. When the cruise control is set the speed can be changed by 1km/hr by pressing the + reset or - set button. Holding the reset button down will increase the speed and holding the set button down will decrease the speed. I have found the cruise control very easy to use - easy as any steering wheel controls that I have previously used.
  21. You can keep on saying no in capital letters all you like - but I have owned four Skodas - 2 Octavias and 2 Superbs and I am awaiting delivery of my new Superb Combi and all I can say is YES YES YES YES YES- the cars have done exactly as promised and always a lot more! The dealers over here have always been better than good. Sorry that it isn't quite the same in India.
  22. I have Irish spec 2009 Elegance with Bolero - phone worked well (even with iPhone) up to last week. Then all the phone functions disappeared - when press phone on the bolero system it just mutes the sound and there is no phone option appearing on the matrix dot display - took to dealers and have never come across this and cannot immediately fix - any clues as to what it might be?
