  1. If he melts the cat or causes a fire under the car, depending on what he parks over I would consider that being important
  2. if you leave the engine running while stationary, there is a real chance you could overheat the catalytic converter due to a lack of cooling air flow over the converter
  3. think I have sorted it now, but it's not finalised yet. I have been quoted what I think is a reasonable price, considering the situation with it being an import, and me just arriving back from oz found a company on Google that deals with imports and chassis number registrations, and has good reviews
  4. its not got European COC its got Australian type approval which they say they don't accept I also have confirmation from VW It's Euro six compliant Im not asking for info on legality I'm just asking for recommendations for insurance I know how to get it registered
  5. The car is Euro six compliant and is compliant with all specifications of the UK models
  6. YOU would think so, but they want to hold you to ransom. I insured a 1.9 DSi Megane to use till I got my Octavia sorted out, and one of the companies that was recommended to me wanted to charge me 4500 a year
  7. I purchased this model in Australia because I wanted a brand-new car, but I didn't want the 1.5 didn't realise it was going to be an issue here .
  8. Yeah, winter and spring are amazing times to be there I do miss it
  9. Have you tried putting the lights and heated screen on and checked the voltage with the engine running? I know some systems only put charge in when needed
  10. The last couple of years, the weather in WA has been getting unbearable it is getting too hot over there got a taste of the cold when we came back, and I do admit it was a shock to the system
  11. thanks, I have a month before the IVA test, so I will keep looking into it. I am going to have to phone around, as every online company asks for a registration number
  12. I am trying to register it at the moment, but I have to get an IVA test done, and the test centre is 60 miles from my home. The testing centre tells me it's not possible to have the car there overnight, and arranging a tow for a specific time is not easy, so I just thought I would try to insure it and drive it as I need to get insurance anyway. I think you are correct, I might have to get registration first
  13. just imported my car to the UK, and I'm finding it difficult to get insurance as it's a 1.4 TSI, and insurance companies here don't list this model as a 2024 car. I wondered if anybody has any info on companies that I could try for insurance. I also don't have it registered yet. Any help would be really appreciated
