  1. Solved it, a bit embarrassing really, after your reply i gave them a proper look, a combination of never really paying attention to them, conflicting headlight unit configurations and an Amazon replacement W5W that said canbus error free, that evidently were not had me looking at the high beams thinking the dipped beams had gone, couple that with the fact that the dipped beams don't really look bright enough in the sun, and hey presto, I've convinced myself the high beams are dual filament, the cable I tested didn't have voltage to -ve, because it was the -ve.... Thanks everyone for the replies, and sorry for inadvertently wasting your time....

  3. Probably my fault, after re-reading the first post I have over complicated that part of the explanation... I should have just said the high beams work as expected..
  4. Yes, misworded, the first click is the sidelights isn't it ... Second is dipped.. by the modules you mean where all the relays are?
  5. Feels normal, if it were stuck in the high position wouldn't it be high as soon as the rotary switch is used? The high beam functions as expected on the stalk.
  6. Does that not just tell me the circuit isn't returning an expected voltage (open circuit) with the switch operated? Which should also illuminate under any break in the circuit?
  7. Good evening all I have no headlights, (left or right, dipped or main) on my 2012 cfwa engined fabia, I have all other lights The lamps seem ok, I think they're the dual filament type, I get high beams if the headlight switch is in the on position, flashing high beams on the stalk also works, I am not getting 12v at the cable with the headlights on at the side I tested (passenger) I do get 12v on the other wire with the high beam on I have visually checked the fuses, and checked some for continuity, if it looked even slightly suspect, all seems fine The indicator lamp on the dash illuminates as normal on operation of the rotary switch, along with the broken bulb warning lamp, I assume this rules out the rotary switch itself? Now one other point of note, I have recently had the car at a garage to replace the power steering pump, so there could have been disturbance of cables in that area, but I've read conflicting reports about whether or not the cables are independent or not, ie would damage in that area take out both sides? I believe I'm looking at the relay as the most probable culprit, if prior assumptions are correct, but again, finding exactly which relay it is and which one to buy when your feeling by hand cos the damn things are behind the dash isn't ideal, the only thing of any help I've found is a video showing a LHD polo, I'm guessing the relay box is upside down in the rhd model (like the fusebox) Can anyone help by either confirming or denying my assumptions, or point me to the right relay?

As per the title, hello..... I've lurked around here for the last few years since purchasing my 2012 1.2 diesel fabia. I've now got a problem that hasn't been specifically covered by the knowledgeable folk around here, but that's not for here. Anyway I'm a mid 40s fabricator welder in the midlands, I'm no slouch with cars, I've changed steering racks/ brakes etc, but am now finding less of an urge to climb under cars on my driveway, this is my first VAG group vehicle, I've generally stuck with vauxhall over the years.
