Hello, fellow Skodaheads!
For a month or so I noticed that when I turn my steering wheel I get a clunking sound coming from bottom of the front part of the car, went to the official dealer and after the check up they informed me that the only option that they can offer is replacement of steering rack. Since the car is only 4 years old and has like like 30k miles on it, they claimed that this is a very unfortunate situation, and tried to see if Skoda will at least partially pay for new part based on the good will warranty, but with no luck.
So now I have a decision to make - bite the bullet and pay around 1,5k eur for new replacement or try to go to a custom shop for repair of the rack, which would cost around ~ 400 eur.
I am leaning more towards repair, based on the fact that the rack hasn’t seen to many miles, so hoping that the fix shouldn’t be that complex, but would love to hear other people opinions. Thanks!
