  1. I am pretty new to Skoda and I have bought a Skoda superb Mk2 with a known fault - fairly common door loom problem - the wires have sheared off in the drivers door. I have managed to put new wire in to the main broken wires but a couple are like floss and tight as hell so need to get a new loom eventually. The airbag light is on now and I assume its a crash sensor in said wiring perhaps but MOT is due so want to clear it till I get the door off and get a new loom so I thought Ill look at these ODB things. I have not had cars new enough for these before I believe you can get Carista and ODB eleven types and wondered which one to get just to clear the airbag fault really but maybe future options to have a play. The car has all kinds of features already turned on I believe as it is an elegance model estate 2011. It is an absolutely lovely car btw, very happy and not as thirsty as a 60s Daimler or as cold as a Morris Minor
  2. oh dear that’s not good, I was hoping to avoid a long term bodge. it seems like ‘the’ most common Skoda issue so hoped t would be well catered for. i may have to get spare door clips and DIY it with proper solder rather than the crap crimp job I’ve done for now. perhaps those heat gun solder crimp things. Need a new rubber door grommet though as I had to butcher the original to get anywhere near the snapped cabling, live and earth both were snapped and loose in there…not good.
  3. Ive taken it off the road right away so hopefully not too much cooking done - hoping disc not warped but is what it is. My initial thought was calliper but a friend suggested bearing - maybe both yikes!
  4. Just bought a superb mk2 and done 100 miles when a slight judder when driving started to appear. im assuming either sticky caliper or maybe bearing as drivers wheel burning hot. Stopped using it straight away and swapped back to my old trusty Clio. is either of those two likely? I’ve booked it in the local garage but can’t get me in till next Thursday. so back to 73bhp again sigh.
  5. Hi guys and gals my new superb (to me) mk2 2011 plate estate. has the usual snapped wires in the loom issue. i believe there is a better loom available for the doors now that is slightly longer and less tight is this correct and if so do you guys have any good sites or brands to go for as id like to get one in. I have bodge fixed it for now and cut the grommets and retaped up for now so will need a new one of them too. At least my central locking works for now. i doubt it will work for long though so want to get it done.
  6. Thanks for the response I did some looking around first to see if anyone else had the issue. sounds like the loom is the problem, just thought if a single stray wire it may be an easy fix.
  7. I have just bought a Skoda Superb MkII Its my first Skoda and I have only been driving it just a day. The seller warned me it has an intermittent fault with the locking and window and wing mirror controls on the driver’s side. Sometimes the windows open, sometimes they don’t, and the rear door does not lock. I am making assumptions here, but I assume this is due to a driver’s door wiring loom issue I believe that the wires in said loom break and require either a new loom or a repair. Is there a guide on how to get into the required area to repair the frayed wiring at all on here. I believe that the grommet is difficult to remove, and I don’t want to snap anything if I can avoid it Also, if I solder the wiring back together am I going to get air bag lights etc illuminating or any other chaos. Many thanks
