  1. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for decent road surfaces that's why l am trying "quieter" tyres and some sound proofing. On the subject of road surfaces a resident in our area, Buckinghamshire, has just video recorded council contractors filling in pot holes. A gang of 3 blokes, one driving the vehicle while his 2 colleagues shovelled some asphalt off the back of the truck into the holes. They then pushed it around with their feet and stamped on it. Highly professional and technical. That is what our council tax pays for, some chance of getting roads resurfaced!
  2. No doubt been talked about before but please help me as l am new to the forum. I previously had a Mk2 estate which suffered with bad road noise inside but l now own a Mk4 hatch and thought the road noise would be less. Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!! it is very noisy. It is currently running on Goodyear Efficiency tyres, can anyone recommend quieter tyres? Also has anyone done any easy sound proofing that worked? Thanks John
  3. Don't get me wrong l did enjoy the BMW but only bought it on impulse rather than just staying with Skoda. The things l didn't like were; paint finish/thickness IMHO was poor for such an expensive car. Fuel consumption obviously, which was around 40mpg and now l am getting near 70mpg. BMW servicing costs were eye watering so really had to go independent. Rear air suspension only lasts about 50K miles, maybe a bit longer if you are lucky. My local garage (very trustworthy) warned of a few things that commonly wear out when you start hitting higher mileages i.e. over 80K. For a car of that class l would not regard 80K as high! When l ran the Octavia Estate l only started to spend real money over 150K.
  4. Good afternoon all. I used to own an Octavia Mk2 estate and changed to a BMW 5 series estate in 2019, well we all make mistakes!🤣 Bought a 2022 Octavia Mk4 hatchback SE L 2.0 TDi DSG a few weeks ago and l am so pleased to be back.👍 Its in blue metallic with beige interior, looks great. I actually prefer motorbikes to cars but there are times when the car is more practical.
