  1. Good or bad news The service said that the cable is located under the battery, and connects the gearbox and the chassis. This sounds completely the opposite of that the part number description says. Does anybody have experience with the cable that grounds the gearbox to the chassis? And a more stupid question: when you mean the earth connector of the tranny... That means this earth connection in the gearbox? Ordering the cable to UK failed. They don't have it anymore. If it's an earth cable could I do it by myself? Thanks a lot and sorry for the stupid questions but I want to be clear of what I'm doing
  2. I think is some connector that is grounding somewhere close to the water box, since says "engine water box". In the picture of the piece looks like one side is a ring connector and the other looks like a female pin of a connector. Btw. If I find it can I ground it somewhere else?
  3. This will be on Friday. And I guess I will talk with the administratives, get the key and they don't know anything else.
  4. Hi, I was looking this picture for long time tonight and trying to understand it. The row of the part that I need doesn't have any number in the diagram. Is under "individual parts" row. How can I interpretate this and know to which connector it belongs or where to find it? Sorry if I'm missing some detail
  5. Sorry for my ignorance but... Where is the water box? Or at least what/where is? Searching on Google I don't get any result
  6. Hi, My car was in the service after problems with starting. After long term checking they told me the problem is with a ground cable that unfortunately isn't produced anymore. The part is 8L0971371 - earth conductor Connection bundle el.inst. for the engine water channel I see that this part can be purchased in UK and Poland. Seems just like a ground cable with a ring connector and some female pin. Does somebody knows where this cable goes? I'm reading about water box and water channels but Im not clear since I couldn't find any picture. There is some workaround or I only have the option to replace the cable? Thanks and sorry for my ignorance
  7. Just for a funny note: Car was parked in the shade so it wasn't started. I reserved time with towing service and official service. Today at 8am the towing guy come. Car wasn't starting. So he towed and in the official service they parked in the sun. At 2pm they called me. Car is starting so asking what they should do with the car. I told them to put it under some shade and try tomorrow. Now is really the first time I wish that my car will not start so they can see and find the mistery Where I live is around 30 something degrees here
  8. In the engine room I don't see any damage in any cable. I can't lift the car since I don't have elevator. Any specific place that I should look? If you tell me what you need to see I will make the pictures
  9. So seems the starter is again burned. What can be burning the starters... Some short-circuit? I checked all the fuses and all are ok. Maybe another fact that can be important, before starting with all the headaches in the service they replaced my clutch.
  10. I got finally some time to check. The only thing I saw is that relay 100 gets warm when the contact is made but I'm not even trying to start the engine
  11. I put the key and make contact. Battery light lights. I try to start. Battery light goes off. If I remove the key and wait few minutes it's happening the same
  12. @Paws4Thot Not yet. What I should look for?
  13. Hi, My Octavia 1.6 mpi bfq was having troubles to start. When I was turning the key on nothing was happening. Just red light of battery goes off and until y don't remove the key and make contact again doesn't turn back again. Usually after trying few times was working. Now is happening the same but no success after tons of retries. Starter was replaced, battery was checked and it's ok. When I try to start the car I hear a whistling noise that seems to come from inside the engine and it stops when I remove the key. As hint I have the feeling that when is parked outside in the sun and it's warm doesn't have problems to start or starts on the second try. Problem is that I had to take it to work and I parked it in an underground garage. Even with 40 degrees outside the garage is cold. So no luck at all. Any idea what could be? I'm thinking that is maybe the starter relay. But I'm searching in the forum and in Google and I can't find which relay should be and where to find the relay boxes. Can somebody bring this info? And if somebody can tell me the part number of the relay and which one is I can already order it so the next week I can rescue my car. Thanks a lot!!
