  1. Personally I have taken my bumper off several times for fog lights and engine mods. the bumber is easy to get on and off as long as it slides in the right place. I did also find that the side clips near wheels do need a swift thump with the hand to lock them in place.
  2. Hi All, I have had to bring this topic up again as I have not seen anything else even slightly relevant. But as usual I will probably be proven wrong as soon as someone reads this. I had new bearing hubs (both front) fitted about 9 months ago and new discs and pads on front too. about 6 weeks ago I had all the ABS, Traction, Engine management & steering lights come up on the Dash. Fortunately the Steering and engine man cleared after about 1 hour and were never seen again but the ABS & TC stayed. so changed the sensors on front. changed the ECU as well. because this was what the scans where saying. But no, not cleared. In the end I had the Bearing hubs changed out under warranty and it was found that the front nearside bearing had come apart by about 1.5 - 2mm causing the Disc to shift outwards and rub on the Carrier. This was just enough for the magnets within the hub to not be registered on the sensor outside. Hence the Light on. However since all this was changed out my TC does not work. button doesn't do anything and I spin up very easily in this damp weather at present. Any ideas as there is nothing else to change on the car except the wiring loom. Help needed. thanks Neil
  3. Thanks for the message regards cost of off side headlight..

I already have the fitting, it is just how to install the thing is what I was after, however I have found a thread on the site that tells me all.

    Again Thank you.

  4. Glad to hear it. so whcih Hose was leaking, or did you replace all the bottom end hoses...
  5. Yes you will get a CEL light displayed unless you do 1 of 2 things. 1. Re-map, costing anywhere from £300 up to what ever you want to pay. 2. extend the cabling for the Potentiometer (on BLT engines) or EGR (on ASZ engines). then the unit can be cabled to any location under the bonnet and strapped up to stop it moving. I did the second of the 2 options (first time round). But even after the Re-map I didn't get it removed from the map as I may need to put car back to normal (ish). It cost me a grand total of £20, for the cable and black tape from halfords and 2x 4 pin water tight plug&sockets. 30mins preperation and about 45 mins doing the job. it only took this long to do the job as I could not be bothered to remove my front strut. All in all it cleared the CEL as it was still getting readings in the computer and it enabled me to continue using the car until I sorted a re-map. enjoy.
  6. Same as the two above, standard box blowing. if she doesn't understand then thats a bonus. The bluefalme unit is lovely. I have it on my car and it is so snug in the bumper. Make sure it is fitted correctly and the supports are positioned to make it fit. It will melt the bumper if not done correctly. Also the size is huge compared to the standard exhaust, so she will notice. But on a plus side the chrome tip does not protrude from the back of the bumper as much as the original one did. I have the Sports Cat downpipe fitted too, but this was because I was getting it for the same price as a Cat less downpipe. go for it and once fitted enjoy.
  7. Definately KKK's on the SE, as mine blew and I have replaced it with a Garret PD150 unit. much better. however I to do have the excessive smoke and know there is a leak as I can hear a squeak when accelerating, so will be looking into this one very soon. I also know though the excessive smoke with full throttle with mine is the Re-map. Can't complain thats for sure... But back to original thread, Boost hose leaks don't always loose power just gain smoke. ends up being a high fuel mix in the system because of the lack of air being pushed in. only needs to be a tiny difference and it all burns different. this is why my re-map smokes big time under foot to floor acceleration. Over fueling.... cheers and enjoy.
  8. I'm 38, had the VRS 3 years now and love it in standard form and my now modified form. The insurance is only £560 after telling all modifications (you have to) so am really liking the age thing for that, but I don't actually see many others my age (around the 40 mark) driving the VRS. They are as this thread shows, either in 20's or are 60+. Don't get it myself. I used to get stick about owning a Skoda, but like others my mates soon shut up after i either left them behind on the motorway or they came for a ride. However I do fel the build qulity is not as good as some other cars, but I really am not going to complain about it as I did only pay £13k bran new for it (just under) where as my mates have all spent £16k plus for equivelant sporty cars. £3k well saved for the day I modified it. he he he enjoy all and keep on driving those VRS's.
  9. sorry No pictures as the car actually looks very standard from the outside and the way I like it. A bit of a sleeper really. obviously to the trained eye the exhaust if a dead give-away as it is half the size again, but hey when you drive past people they are not really looking for the exhaust.
  10. Well I have had the car from new (just over 3 years now) so I have had the time to collect the parts and then get them fitted at once. Would not have done the turbo if it was not for the fact that the original blew up and Skoda wanted more for the labour than the cost of Jabba doing teh whole job. no brainer really. Having fun now as the car runs on rails and certainly does shift. enjoy.
  11. Hi all. I have been a member on here for a while now and only after reading a couple of other hello's and welcomes I thought to myself I should really do the good thing and say Hi. here we go then HI Thought it best I did it now, seeing as I have taken loads of advice from lots of you on here and read loads of the threads to end up with the VRS SE of mine in the customised state it is in now. read my signature for the changed. most of you will agree they are good, but I know that some will say otherwise. (why have an SE and change it? it should be kept stock) Well I wanted a new car, I wanted the SE, I wanted to upgrade and mod, and honestly If i intended to sell the car then it would ned to be kept stock to keep value, but I don't intend getting rid of it. So I am having fun. More mods to follow later on once the car has lost some more value and the bank is replenished after these mods. again, hello and look forward to advising/helping some of you and also being advised and helped by some of you on here. cheers,
  12. Taken me a while to get round to it, but hello to you. It appears you like me have been a member for ages but not actually got round to doing anything about saying hello. oh well I suppose I should really say hello properly seeing as I am now all modded up. I see your in Kent, Bit of a large place, any chance of a narrow location on where you live. laters.
  13. Oh, thats a shame as I was tempted to fit one to mine now all been modded and mapped. It would have been fitted in exactly the same way as yours too. May have to think twice now... unless it will work differently with w remapped engine.
  14. No I have a VRS SE too and I do not have it as the back seat has been down on mine for over a week now and there is no such light. Maybe they realised that they go wrong and there is not real point to them and removed it from the later versions of the MK1 fab.
  15. Well I just needed to put a big shout out to you all (well anyone that reads this) about the guys at Jabba Sports in Peterborough. They have done the business with my car and have done it under the budget price they originall y quoted me. In case anyone reading this hasn't seen the previous threads I had posted, my Turbo blew up and Skoda quoted £3000 for a new replacement KKK and a full new intake system. I spoke with a few garages, a local performance one near me (brandshatch) quoted £1000 for replacement turbo and sort intake system. Then Jabba Quoted £600, originally. Then I went for an uprated Garret PD150 Turbo, which obviously pushed price up slightly and then I added a few extras on that required fitting. I had the parts just needed them all fitting. Jabba did not have any worries about fitting any of the parts and where just willing to do so. I had full blueflame exhaust fitted inc downpipe, rear discs and pads, full brake fluid change, front console bushes replaced, and eibach lowering springs fitted. they had been given the car for a 2 week period as I was going away on holiday and they came up trumps. Had a spot of trouble when I turned up to collect the car as they had found there was a leak in the boost pipes and they could not re-map until sorted. but withint 20 mins the problem was located and resolved. The car, got the remap and was all sorted. I went to settle bill Expecting a littl emore than originally quoted to me for the upgrade turbo and the parts fitted (quoted at £1360) in the end it cost me £1310, ok not a major amount cheaper, but I was very very pleased and the workmanship and friendliness of all the staff up there was brilliant. top notch service all round and totally recommend them to anyone requiring work to be carried out. 100% Recommended, A1 Services, Totally Professional. If you think the distance to travel to them is too far, then think again. I traveled 157 miles to them (each way) just for the workmanship and level of service, and that can't be beaten in my books. cheers guys @ Jabba.
  16. IS VERY HAPPY NOW AS CAR ALL FIXED AND RUNNING THE BEST IT EVER HAS.

  17. sorry guys, I have modified my SE and love it, but you would not really tell the diference from the outside unless you know what you are looking for. external looks are the same. I had very little choice in 1 of the mods as the turbo Blew, so went with a few others too. SE or not I would still have Modded it. Have no intension of selling and also have all the original parts in the garage if i did decide to sell. advantage being I can sell it all with original parts too nothing replaced. just thing a 10 year old car with 100,000 miles on clock with original brake discs and pads. he he he As for original point of this thread, 45mm drop is not much really. but do look at links as certainly don't want any rubbing/knocking on the drive shaft. cheers, Enjoy,
  18. blueflame or buy another standard one again if you don't want major expense. or just bend straight for real cheap fix.
  19. But still to me the twin aspect placed on that car just doesn't look right. don't get me wrong the miltec exhaust is a goooood exhaust, but just doesn't have that look about it that fits in with the car. hey ho though, each to there own... I once put lexus style rear lights on a car. so what do I know. he he he cheers, enjoy,
  20. I went for the Blue flame for virtually the same reasons as above. but I also got the Blueflame sports cat downpipe. will let you know exactly what it all sounds like and feels like once I get car back from Jabba Sports in a week or so's time. I wanted an upgrade on the system but still look at a quick glance like the OEM unit. fortunately this does. bought the downpipe seconhand with 6000 miles coverd for £100 and the rest of system for £230 delivered. Great bargain. will post more if this thread still running once I have car back. enjoy.
  21. Sods law, If I find this Mr Sod I will give him the bill for my turbo blowing. lol.... yes your right though. it is a mechanical item and there is obviously an element of luck with them. mine had only done 39000 miles and had been warmed up and cooled down. run in lightly for the first 1000 miles from new as requested, but still blew. oh well sods law. just costs a pretty penny to sort though. will be well happy once mine is back from JABBA with a new Garret, clean inlet pipesowrk, and full exhaust fitted. oh plus remap. will be a totally different car. thats for sure. back to square one with the running in again though as can't afford to blow another one.... enjoy and hope all these blown turbo's go away and never return. laters,
  22. Generally the idea for changing to a different tuned exhaust would be to change the whole system. But this is only worth while if you intend doing a few other mods to improve the running of the engine. otherwise you are just changing the rear box for cosmetic purposes. However if you intend to upgrade more than just the exhaust for cosmetic reasons, look at the Miltec or Blueflame full exhausts with either sports CAT (like mine) or with Cat removal pipe. Car breaths a little easier with this mod... Best people to chat with are JABBA, found on this site. great crowd and will not try and sell ou anything, unless you want them to... enjoy,
  23. Hope it all goes well for you, £380 + VAT is a little hefty, but hey could have been worse, my car is in at JABBA at present for a new turbo after my orginial KKK decided to blow up on me. there is bits of the turbo all the way through the inlet pipes and intercooler. Fortunately none in the inlet manifold or I would be in trouble... fingers crossed for you and once back on the car it will be as good as new. just a suggestion though. Why not clean out the full intake system and intercooler and get the whole thing breathing like new again without any oily rubbish in it. enjoy...
  24. Sween, don't know if you noticed but he has already got an uprated clutch, but it doesn't say if he has a SMF or DMF. oh well. I would hope a SMF as he has paid out for the Sach kit.
  25. all sounds good giving the VRS a kick up the butt to that power, 260bhp sounds great doesn't it. However I think you hit the nail on the head when you put is it drivable? if you only use the car as a bit of a toy or weekend drive the power her up to the hilt. but if you need to use the car 5-7 days a week transporting yourself to and from work on any of the UK's roads (pot-holed rubbish that they are) then pull it back a bit. At end of day it depends on budget and what you want from the car in the end. if you will be using it for track days and racing up the 1/4 mile the push it to the limit. enjoy
