Long run around 50/60 mile. Not done a temperature test but I can put my finger in the expansion tank and feels luke warm. no oil temp dials on dash.

Yeah there’s coolant in but it looks very clean for an eight year old car. ! Expansion tank is barely warm on a long run. Which sensor would that be. ? thanks for the reply.

New member here so big hello to everybody. I’ve got a 2016 mk3 diesel 1.4 with a cooling problem. On some days I can get to the end of the street and the temperature needle is at half way (normal) temperature position and other journeys it goes all the way round to one segment before going into the red. The car has not overheated yet. On the shortest of runs the fans are kicking in. two questions is, 1: what’s failing, ie the water pump or thermostat. And 2: was there a recall for this model. I’v looked on dvla site and cannot see any. The car has only covered 22,000 miles. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
