By the way, if it has an electric operating mode, it is the wrong one for a manual winder. Do not buy an electric winder for a manual, it will not fit. Also to clarify, the new one off Skoda Parts Direct was £100 with £25 delivery!!! If you want to ensure you have the right one, give them a bell and tell them your reg number and they will tell you the part number - very helpful guy. I was really tempted to buy new as at least you know that one is 100% OK. In the end, the one I got off ebay came with a 6 month warranty so I took a punt. Part number of mine for LHS (UK passenger rear) was 6V0839401A. Steve

Hi all, I managed to get one from a breakers on line for £50 delivered. I got it off Ebay. The LHS ones are rarer than rocking horse dung. New ones are £125 delivered off Skoda Parts Direct. I ensured it was liberally lubricated before fitment (I used a little bike chain oil as its very thin) and fitted. All ok now. I took the old one apart out of curiosity, and inside the mechanism, it was dry as a bone. The cable had corroded inside the housing. Suggest the only way to prevent this is to periodically remove the door card and lubricate the cable, winding it up and down to distribute the oil. Bit crap design and quality to be honest. Part number of mine for LHS was 6V0839401A. Hope this helps. Steve

May have found a second hand unit for £50. The old ones definitely kaput. The winder wont move - I have had a large stillsons on it. The cables look odd as they have come off the runners. Maybe will take it apart when I get a replacement and have a look inside it will probably destroy it doing that. Will Let you know.

I have just rang the SkodaParts site and have tracked one down. Its £100 plus £24 delivery. Part number is 6V0839401A for anyone else who reads and is in a similar boat (LH assembly). Would have preferred a second hand one but cant track one down anywhere so will have to go ahead I think. The winder is seized solid. I have tried all sorts on it to no avail. Also, you cant get them apart to look inside which is annoying. Thanks for the speedy reply Nigel, appreciated.

All, I am trying to track down a Passenger Side Left Rear Window Lifter mechanism. I have tried Ebay and local breakers but all they seem to have is electric ones. The winder mechanism has jammed up completely on the old one so desperately need a replacement. Is this part unique to this Fabia and if not, what other car carries it or does anyone know of one going for sale. I have attached a photo of the offending article. Any help or advice greatly received. Steve
