  1. @Paws4Thot Thank you, then once it fails completely is when it can be fixed much easier, many thanks
  2. Hi @MarcusR_VRS I am interested what the vagcom and autel scanner are, what they do, where to buy them, and should I buy them? Many thanks for all who read and contribute to these questions of mine, 😁.
  3. Hi @Paws4Thot would you be so kind to explain where the actual location is on the broken wire in the driver's door bellows, and is it just a case of removing the drivers side door card to access this in the bottom of the door well and fix the broken wire(s), and any particular colour to fix or is it just a case of fixing the wires that you notice that are broken and no longer connected? Then could I please explain my problem with my central locking and alarm that works fine most of the time but occasionally I will go the car and what I usually do is press the key to unlock my car but it no longer works, this is an intermittent fault, and the central locking will not unlock on the key fob, the only way to open the car is by using the actual door key in the lock, I do not think it is anything to do with the car key battery either but I could be wrong. Then when I am inside the car there is initially no dashboard lights either, and I press the key fob again and the ignition on and off and eventually the dashboard lights all come back on. What I have also noticed when this fault occurs is that I lose the correct time on the dashboard and radio as well. I trust this help you and others to support me if what you believe could be the issue with Skoda Octavia vRS Diesel hatchback, 2007. If any other details are required then please let me know, this is such a strange intermittent fault that would occur about 5 times a week I would say. In addition, if I have the widows slightly open and put the alarm on and deadlock the car, the alarm goes off after about two minutes is the normal because I have my windows open slightly? Many thanks to everyone who can contribute to my issues and questions in this excellent Skoda forum.
  4. Hi T2000 I could see you were giving me more options on my wheels choice by you sharing what you had shared with me previously, and many thanks. It certainly is a minefield for a newbie like me, after already buying on 17" alloy when I needed a 18" alloy. Not only are the wheel measurements complex the tyre sizes are as well. If it was easy to find 4x alloy wheels with decent tyres that exactly matched what Skoda factory fit then I would. Factory Fit Wheel and Tyres 7.5Jx18 ET51 5/112 Centre Bore 57.1 Tyre Size: 225/40R18 I appreciate all the responses so far, and thanks for taking the time to share all your knowledge to guide me in the right direction.
  5. Many thanks Carlston for your clarity. Do you have expertise in, the in car entertainment system, please see my other post, & many thanks as always.
  6. Dear Members If the first post above advised that if my tyre size is, 225/40R18, then Skoda fit a standard wheel alloy rim size of, 7.5Jx18 ET51 5x112 57.1. I am now aware that the ET can be variable from 51 to 40 and the lower end of this number the better. Can the J7.5 be a variable number as well & if so what would the tolerance be on this number? Knowing that the PCD is 5x112 and the 57.1 centre Bore must both be fixed numbers with no tolerance at all. Many thanks.

  8. Thank you for taking the time to locate an alternative set of wheels for me, & the additional information that you have sent to me as well, this is greatly appreciated. Please see attached pic for another set of wheels I have found, & based on what you have shared above with me these wheels should fit as well shouldn't they? Will see if I can post the link to these ones as well, but they do not have tyres on them.
  9. Thank you, & did not know about the 20% import charges. I have read that any VAG/VW/Audi/Seat Alloys will fit on a Skoda if they are the same ones I have, & if I went for pre-used instead. 7.5Jx18 ET51 5/112 57.1 (225/40R18) Any idea if the above is correct and which models VAG/VW/Audi/Seat could fit? Many thanks
  10. Dear Members, anybody updated their in car entertainment system in their Skoda Octavia VRS TDI? Can you all please let me know how to improve mine, how you improved yours & the cost? Would be good to be able to watch TV by connecting to my phone. Please see attached pic for my present in car entertainment system, many thanks.
  11. Thank you T2000 - do I need to confirm that the centre bore is 57.1 and then they would fit without the need of adaptors? Many thanks.
  12. Here is the link to the alternative wheels as well - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284975280094 Many thanks.
  13. Dear Members After now having more of an understanding about Skoda alloy wheels thanks to Carlston I have now also located these one off of Ebay - 4 Rial Kodiak wheels 7.5Jx18 ET51 5x112 GRAP for SKODA Octavia. Now the part I still do not understand though is the "5x112 GRAP" reference, can anyone assist with explaining what the "5x112 GRAP" means? These wheels on Ebay are cheaper than the original Skoda ones posted above and possibility not any where near the quality of the ones above either. The ones above as well I could not see how much it was to post to the UK either which was one reason I began looking for an alternative set. Many thanks.
  14. Thank you Carlston for taking the time to provide the information that you have sent to me, enjoy your day.
  15. Hi again, just been re-reading the forum again, and came across a member posting an Ebay link to what they were thinking of buying for their Skoda Octavia to see if any other forum member would know if they would fit their car. I am looking to buy - Renault Laguna 4 x Alloy wheels with 4 good tread tyres 225/40/18 | eBay for my Skoda Octavia VRS TDi 2007, does any member on this forum know if they will fit. I have no idea about the offset that I keep on reading about either, many thanks. My other post above where I have purchased a 17" alloy rim after doing extensive reading it looks like I needed to purchase a 18" alloy rim instead especially if my cars already got 225/40 R18 tyres on the car. Therefore, this now looks like an expensive newbie error but please let me know if what I am saying is actually correct? If this will not fit then the alloy rim is now up for sale, and only looking for my money back, and this can be collected from Worcestershire, B98 7RG (UK) for £65. Many thanks.
  16. Hi again, can a forum member please let me know as well if alloys of a Renault Laguna with tyre size 225/40/18 will fit a Skoda VRS TDi 2007 that's got a tyre size of 225/40/R18? Many thanks.
  17. Hi there, good morning, could any member of this forum please inform me what tyre size, & best tyre make, may be one in each price range will fit a Skoda Octavia VRS mk2 Zenith Alloy Wheel, Size is: 7J x 17 ET54 Part no 1Z0 601 025L. Only just purchased this wheel so have not got a clue, would a 225/40/R18 tyre fit on this wheel rim? Many thanks.
