Superb MkII Westfalia Tow Bar PDC Screen
So, At Friday, we were in rush, and we could only partially test it on the spot, the Display was working again. Yesterday I tried iut with a bike rack(7 pols),and was working, as it should-no beeps from behind, correct screen image, working lamps. In comparsion with the image I shared previously from the installation manual, point 4 and 5 were left out, and he simply wrote 118008 into the field. It was -theoretically - not accepted (we got an error from Carport), but somehow we still managed to write it. So for Google Search, and for future generation: 3T0 919 475 C 3T0919475C Hardware HW H08 Software Version SW 0005 118008 Superb Mk II 2012 These setting is better represented in VCDS, as it can be seen in my last reply, we were gropeing in the dark in CarPort, there is no info about the meaning of different bits and bytes. Anyway, I must thank you your time and help! Have a nice day.

This is expected functionality for smart towing controllers: it disables the rear parking sensors when a trailer is connected so the constant beeping doesn't drive you crazy when reversing. This is part of the reason for the coding changes - you're telling the car that a smart towing controller is connected and the other controllers in the car should be talking to it. I know, how should it work, but while I was plugging the tester into the socket, the PDC audio sinal was not turning off, moreover, since the coding, the PDC has no visual feedback, these screen remain off(and shoving not this signal without a tralier or with the tester), if it was off, and stays on the media screen, if it was on: It stays blank. I know, it should be like this in case of an attached trailer: . I have very little knowledge of the Westfalia kits, I installed the Skoda OEM 13-pin kit (made by Hella) on my car and it worked perfectly. Annoyingly I can't find the manual for it to see what the coding instructions should be. I'll try and find it tonight. If you would been able to send these instuctions, it would be great-at least for comparsion. Coding steps 4 & 5 involve connecting to the PDC controller, so if that's not happening it suggests a problem with that controller. Does the PDC controller show up in the installation list on the CAN gateway? What does a full fault scan of all control modules show? We will check it again! The PDC controller was also in my mind, and we read it yesterday out(note, it was a quick read out trough an app, not trough CarPort!): So, it is there, and I could find it online, and the coding in some coding database. It seems, that there is some kind of byte, that is allowing the visual representation in the PDC controller, however, we didn't find it in our module: https://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/park-assist-parts-5/oem-1z0919475f-8k-ops-controler-parking/ -> 1. Bild: But it is for citigo. But there is such thing, just somehow not in our controller. I have also found some coding here: Here the Control module type, software version and hw version are correct. https://vagcode.info/components/8a613699bd95ca3b2909d3b3c44a27f6.html The code is: 118008, while it is 100008 in my control module. Maybe these works?

So, I just disassembled the it, and I disconnected the module. He set every code back to original, physically only the cabels under the steering wheel I checked yesterday stayed as they are.(but as they are currently leading "nowhere", they can not cause any trouble. Right?) Anyway, the screen still not tuning on in case of reverse or manual mode. 😕 He programmed it again, and we tested it. The Tester shows, that every line is alive, turning, break, fog, constant 12V, etc. However, the PDC is not shutting up. it is still recognises the objects behind the car.... 🤬(and the screen is not showing anything) But We had something, we didn't 100% understand in the coding. He could not find the point 4 and 5 in the CarPort. These settings are not there. Maybe it is they key, but it is missing, nowhere to find. What do you think?

Morning, Thanks for the answer. It is raising more questions to me as it is answering...😬 -Does it mean, that the 13-pol plug will get only the functionality of the 7-pol plug? Reading their catalogue, I found my kit should not include the charging cable, only through extension kit. Is it the only difference? I have seen the extra socket hanging around my own small control box and later, on the last site of the instructions a picture about the Westfalia extension kit :300 028 300 113, that should deliver permanent plus:https://australiatowbars.com.au/charging-line-extension-fridge-wiring-kit-for-13-pin-plug-westfalia.html, however, this socket is to be found on the instructions of the older box as well: -Moreover, I found the catalogue(https://www.westfalia-automotive.com/fileadmin/westfalia/countries/en/Price_Lists/Catalogue_January_2024_EN.pdf)utterly chaotic, and saw the following: -In my case all variants for MKII are "E" (6th coloumn from the left), meaning Parking aid shut off-would it be the root cause? -I see on the amazon picture: In amazon, on picture: Kit: 317 102 900 113 El: 321 600 300 113 -> it has the full control set. https://www.aukup.de/anbauanleitungen/esaetze/321600300113.pdf TB: 317 102 600 001 I have got: Kit: ??? El: 321 800 300 113 TB: 317 102 600 001 Catalog: Kit: 317 102 900 001 El: 321 600 300 113 TB: 317 102 600 113 -It seems, that the advertised and the delivered sets are not the same. Does it give me cause to complaint? -What is our experience on this forum about the n"bigger" westfalia control box? There is one buyer on the amazon, camplaining about the control box in 2016. All other buyer are satisfied . I have checked the skodapars as well, here is theri OEM electrical set:https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/eea800003el-towbar-electric-wiring-installation-without-preparation-skoda-23332.html Thank you again!

Superb MkII Westfalia Tow Bar PDC Screen
Hi, Thank you for replying! I will gather the required information as soon as I can. 1.: The electrical kit is in the Westfalia set: https://amzn.eu/d/i48Sakm It says, it is an universal set. According their instructions, the control module is called: WA No. : 900 001 506 630 However the towing control module on the amazon pictures and the reality are different: I got a smaller one, with one slot, and there are few differences between my instructions(they were mede for this smaller module) and the instructions for the OEM, or older Westfalia kit: -I have to use only the 43 and 44 slots in the fuse box. The coding followed the attached picture. I have to ask something here, as we discussed with him about that: Which point:4 or 5 should be used? Or both? 2.: It is permanent, even now, in de-coded state(pre-thusday), it is not working. There were only a tester on the tow bar, we did not notice any change. 3.: The towing module is already inside the car, I built everything back. I have now no possibility to check this, however, I will see ity if we can not handle the problem otherwise. One more thing to mention, as it may be important. I installed it on 31.08, last saturday, and it was coded yesterday(Thursday) , in the morning. This time we had no towing bar tester, but we got no errors on the dashboard. I wanted to eat at 13:00, and I noticed an empty battery. Well, it is 12 years old, no wonder here, just councidence(hopefully) . I have left the hood open, and I measured the power demand after an hour(so it had time to sleep) ,it was about 0.05A. Later, We started it from my friend's car, and I drove home, and I cleared the errors coming from the low voltage. In the narrow garage I noticed, that the Swing dispaly is showing nothing. Today, I could start the half-dead battery in the morning without any problem, but I was prepared myself with an other half-dead battery (from my 2017 Fabia, it was changed last week): My thought was, I can bind them parallel in case of empty battery, and their joint current could help me, but I was not using it in the morning, at home. Today, in the morning, he checked the coding one more time, but he found no issues or errors. He set everything back, as it was before but this anomaly didn't vanish. At noon we went back, and tried it again, but after about 30 minutes on ignition and switcing On/Off, the battery went empty. But the screen was still not working. Now I tried to start it with the method I described above:using the other battery parallel with the car battery. It didn't help either, but we were surprisedly noticing that the screen was functioning, as I connected the 2nd battery and he tried the ignition - however it was not lasting long, it went away after he switched off the car. He tried to code the control module again, but - although it was detected by the program(as false coding or how that is called) it was not letting him "allow/set active" it again(again, or how it is called). At this time I thought, I should take the new battery I ordered yesterday, and install it:maybe the low voltage was the root cause. We started the car by pushing, and I get the new battery, installed it, but it was not helping either. The screen is still not turning ON. Now I checked my installation, and I even measured the the connections, looking for possible broken wires, but it seems to be OK.

Superb MkII Westfalia Tow Bar PDC Screen
Hi, I have searched through the forum, but I have not find any answer to my problem, I hope someone have same thoughts about that: I own a Superb MKI, (2011), 1.8 (118kW) TSI. It is fitted with the Swing radio. I bought a Westfalia Detachable towbar set with electronic set. I installed it myself, following the the instructions written in the manual, and using a Superb YTvideo(pun intended) about the disassembly and instllation. These two are not fully compatibe, as the video shows an OEM installation, while the kit I ordered has a new kind of control unit, what is significantly smaller and has only one socket. However, the installation went as it should, and as it written in the handbook, and a friend of mine was making the coding using CARPort. He followed the instuctions in the manual, but he has his own experience as well. It seems that the phisical installtion went well, The socket tester shows, that the pins are getting the signals from the car, but we are facing with the following problem: The optical visulasiation of PDC is completely missing, only the audio was remaining(both front and rear) It means, that if the Swing radio is OFF, and I shift to reverse, or I am manually turning the parking sensors on, the display is staying black, and OFF. And if the Swing Radio is ON(playing music), it will not switch to the optical representation of the PDC. Do you have any ideas, what went wrong? Thank you!
