They are incredibly annoying when parking in small spots. the cars screeching at my so much that I can't tell what I need to be concerned about looking at the screen. My old car just had front and rear sensors which were great because I can tell what's happening from context (e.g. I am driving forward so it's probably the front sensors beeping at me.)

My beloved MK3 estate got rear ended and totalled so now I have to find something new. my gut says get the MK4. it's newer and shinier but then I'm reading a lot about reliability issues and trying to get my head around them and if they've been resolved. It'll be our only vehicle so we need it to be reliable. I guess three questions Are there variants to avoid? Are the plug in hybrids reliable? Are the infotainment problems mostly resolved? I'm going to continue reading the forums here but any opinions are welcome.

MK3 2018 TSI 1.0 6 years old, 60k miles It recently dumped a load of oil on my drive, turns out bolts were lose on the camshaft de-phaser cover. Local non-skoda mechanic identified and fixed the leak but advised I should change the cambelt because it got covered in oil. Skoda UK advised that the belt should be replaced at 140k but wouldn't comment on the oil because their mechanic hasn't looked it at. Do I need to change it or am I am being tricked into an unnecessary expense?
