  1. Thanks andy2407, used the the guide again today for the 2nd time, I'm getting faster. Got it bookmarked ready for next time...
  2. Thanks Andy2407 your guide saved me a lot of grief and made changing the dipped headlight bulb on my Scout a doddle, can now attack future bulb changes with renewed confidence.
  3. Yeah, I have been musing on this one too, my wife has a petrol car and the oil stayed a nice pale colour for ages after an oil change, but my 2.0 diesel oil turned black stright after returning from the service on 12000 so I guess it must be normal, I also had an oil change 5000 miles later to check the theory out and it was the same black colour again.
  4. Have been looking around for a good price on a first service for my diesel scout. The quote from my dealer was £270 which seems excessive compared to what some of you guys have paid. How can it vary so much between different skoda dealers? 'service a car' sound good (£129 plus vat) and collect your car as well, does anyone have any feedback on using them? Bad sevice or paying over the odds just doesn't seem right.
  5. Been driving my scout since last September and it's been great, compares really well with my previous Golf 2.0 tdi. and gives great confidence during these winter months. The flywheel business is a slight worry especially if the 2.0tdi engine is continuing to be sold with the known fault? only odd thing I can report is that the little compartment for putting your shades into (above the driving mirror) is a little sooty and I can't be sure if that has always been like it or has developed, son pointed it out. Surprised I'm not seeing more Scouts on the road.
  6. Welcome fellow Scout owner, I haven't come across such a thing as the downloadable manual you seek but will keep an eye out.
  7. I feel for you 100mphplus, my brand new fabia combi tdi was rear ended by white van man in july, 750 miles on the clock, I to got pushed into the vehicle in front. It was a total loss eventually. Are you with Skoda finance (Zurich)? It sounds like your Vehicle may be repairable, just make sure you are happy with the work done, get it checked if necessary and get your entitlement to hire car and compensation for your injuries. Hope you are back in the VRS tdi soon.
  8. Does anyone have any update information on which towbar would be best for the Scout, aftermarket guys still unsure?
  9. Hello to my fellow Skoda fans, just joined today, have known about the forum for a while now, whenever you google a technical question about a skoda it's not long before you get a direct here. Recently got my Octavia Scout tdi, silver, after being a Fabia fan for a couple of years, eventually purchasing a Fabia combi ( a retirement gift to myself) which was rear-ended after just 5 weeks resulting in a total loss of the vehicle, hoping for a better run of luck from here on in.
