  1. Update to post - I've found that the OBD port had a loose connection preventing my VCDS from latching on, this is now sorted, and I'm down to only 1 fault code, which only appears when the cruise is switched to the on position. I've not upgraded the clockspring on the car as I was advised the existing one was capable of running cruise, but I'm now investigating this also as a possible root cause to cruise not working. With the steering wheel, more research has suggested that the buttons on each side of the wheel may not be compatible with the age of the car, but who knows, maybe this is something that will be resolved with a new clockspring too!
  2. Hi there, I'm new to this forum and to Skoda family ownership, so please bear with me! My son has recently bought a neat and tidy Fabia mk2 Monte Carlo, which was previously owned by his uncle for the past 10 years with no issues whatsoever. The car has been well cared for in terms of service history, and only had 51k on the clock on receipt. There were a couple of things that we looked at and decided a bit of an upgrade would be in order, and we have set about giving the car a bit of a spruce up to suit an 18 year old and his mates. We've fitted a new head unit https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B083TBTSWC?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title, added cruise control (ebay item ref https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135306681004#:~:text=eBay item number%3A-,135306681004,-Item specifics), and the appropriate column stalks https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226233646121#:~:text=eBay item number%3A-,226233646121,-Last updated on, and topped that off with a flat bottomed multi function steering wheel https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/386615576924#:~:text=eBay item number%3A-,386615576924,-Last updated on Having followed all of the guidance provided to install the cruise system, and then again for the MFSW, I used OBD Eleven to program the respective control modules but have only had fail codes as a result. When cruise switch is flipped I get no change on the MFD to acknowledge the cruise being engaged, the consequential scan details the error codes now apparent, but I've no idea where to start looking to try and resolve. The MFSW buttons light up and some work randomly, but not in any way you'd expect them to relate to the function icon suggested! I've subsequently discovered that the MY of our Fabia never had buttons on both side of the steering wheel as a standard, and that the 2015 wheel I've purchased may not be a suitable upgrade due to the twin button sets installed - any advice regards this particular issue would be appreciated. Other questions I have about the MFSW are 1, Do you have to program the button sets separately? 2, Can LED backlighting colour be easily modified from the white installed, to match the light green of the car's instrument cluster and other controls / switches illumination? On another aspect, I've also now got an issue with my VCDS failing to connect to the car (it wont see any module any time I try to connect, even though I managed to get a full scan of the car on the first evening he had it, so am trying to understand where this could have been affected within the mix of the integration of the additional small loom for the cruise control or could this be as a result of the additional cables for MFSW? Any help / advice welcomed !
