  1. Hi guys, Thank you very much for your feedback on this one. So I've checked the ground points highlighted by Alasdair and everything was fine. I managed to solve it! The culprit for the 8V was the ignition switch. I changed it and everything works as intended. I've replaced the beam and washer stalks and they work. Thank you again for your time and support here!
  2. Hi everyone, I’m trying to diagnose a growing electrical problem (or more problems) on my 2005 Skoda Fabia Mk1 1.2 and would really appreciate some guidance. These are some car details: Skoda Fabia Mk1, 2005, 1.2 (12V) petrol engine with around 269,500 km. So, some electrical intermittent problems started appearing 3-4 months ago and they got progressively worse. Since initially the car was driveable, I thought about postponing addressing them until the weather got warmer. The first issue was related to the high beams. Pushing the stalk failed to engage the high beams sometimes, until like 2 weeks ago when the activation stopped working at all. Flashing (pulling the stalk) does work, but I cannot get them to be on all the time. The second issue was related to the windscreen washer pump. Initially, the power of the washer was getting lower and lower. At one point I did replace the pump which fixed the issue for like two days. But the real issue was that there seemed to be a voltage drop when activating the washer pump with RPM going down and the car almost stalling (it even stalled on like 2 occasions). Since then, I have fully disconnected the pump. The third issue was related to the airbag light, which popped-on until the engine was switched off. This happened only twice or three times and the only stored codes were Airbag Module Communication errors. Today, I wanted to work on them and first looked at the wiring loom. To do so, I took of the battery and it's slot. Then, I connected the negative connector of the washer pump directly to the minus terminal on the battery and tried running it like this, which failed but there was no RPM drop or anything. After reconnecting everything back I got a VCDS 01309 - Power Steering Control Module (No Communication J500) and a 01321 - Control Module for Airbags (No Communication J234). I connected directly to the steering module and saw the following: Terminal 30 voltage: ~13 V Terminal 15 voltage: ~7.6 V Pump motor status: OFF Pump current: 0 A I assumed that the pump never activates due to the low voltage on Terminal 15. I have tested multiple fuses (including fuse 7 for the power steering) and some show ~12V, while others ~8V, including: ventilation / blower, wipers, reverse light, instrument cluster and the steering electronics (7). The battery voltage itself is normal and all the fuses on the battery are fine. I did a continuity test between the fuses and the battery and everything checks out. I have also noticed another strange thing - sometimes, the fuel pump does not prime (and there is no hum or a hum cut-short). I removed and reinstalled the battery and the battery tray, I cleaned several ground points and visible contacts with contact cleaner, but the issue still persists. Could this be caused by: The blinker / high beam stalk - which I am planning on changing The washer / wiper stalk - which I am planning on changing The ignition switch? The clock spring / airbag ring? Contact Relay X no. 100, 614, 644 Anything else? Any feedback here would be extremely helpful. Thanks everyone for your time!
  3. Hello Alasdair, thank you for your response! I've replaced the old engine cover since the two hoses were broken. I've also made sure that nothing is blocking the air. Also changed the old fuel filter as it wasn't replaced in ages based on the previous owner's feedback. My concern is that, at times, it looks that this epc light is flickering. On some roads it consistently flickers and does not reach full brightness (if that makes sense). I was thinking whether this could be a shorting wire (which at times might short out). Also, it does not light up immediately, but only after 10-20 mins of driving.
  4. Hello everyone, I am writing this in search of some help for this apparently not so serious but annoying problem. So, a couple of months ago I've received a Skoda Fabia Mk1, 2005, with approx. 250k KMs (6Y, 1.2 64 hp engine). Recently, however, the EPC light on the dashboard seems to light up intermittently. This has happened during city drives, long-distance trips, short-distance trips and on the highway. Based on what I've read around here, I do not seem to have any acceleration problems, and the brake light functions correctly. I will attach a video below to understand how it works: WhatsApp Video 2024-11-30 at 11.19.17.mp4 The problem is, when I took it to a shop, they've scanned for codes, and there was nothing there, only an older but cleared P0171. Could this be the error? But, as I said, there don't seem to be any acceleration or rough driving problems. I was thinking whether this could be a connection problem as well (maybe a loose connector somewhere). Do you have any idea of what this might be and where I should start looking for the problem? Thank you in advance!
