Thanks for the reply but we bought a different vehicle. The recurring problems and availability of aftermarket Solid clutch conversions put me right off. All cars have problems but this scared me away.....

I am looking at buying a 2010 Octavia 1.6 diesel. 107,000 kms. (approx 65000 miles) On my the drive, the clutch felt "odd," and it had to go all the way to the floor to clear and be able to change gear. Is this normal? I have read the horror stories about the dual mass clutch and the aftermarket "normal" clutch kits. I would appreciate input before I go ahead with a purchase.

Hi all, I am considering buying a used 2010 Octavia 1.6 diesel. 65000 miles and appears well looked after but I would appreciate input from owners. My main concerns are the clutch on the 5 speed manual box. It felt a bit odd on the test drive, It has to go right to the floor to disengage. Will this vehicle have the dual mass clutch, If yes, what are the reliability issues, life etc. Also are there issues with the dpf.? Any and all advice welcomed....
