I don’t see why it is guaranteed to fail as I’ve been able to reduce the stress on the cables. It is clearly a manufacturing fault evident in the numerous cuts in the cable. £50 for a loom extension? Not for this old bodger!

Just read this thread before looking at the central locking and window not working on o/s rear door. 10 minute read was time very well spent. 2 wires broken purple/blue & green. Cut the gaiter and removed door card to give me sufficient slack. 2 solder sleeves heated with a fag lighter did the job. All sorted. Thanks to all who contributed to this topic. It’s a fault common to VAG.
