  1. I'v just sold my 04 vRS for £4200. It had 92k on the clock and the exterior was near perfect. The market for 01> performance cars is near dead, so the best you can hope for is £4200. Give it 2 months and the best you could hope for will be £3000. Darren
  2. If fuel economy was my aim i'd buy a diesel. Oh wait i already own 2 diesel vehicles:D I did 190 miles driving back from buying it so the other 110 are Milton Keynes driving which is quite bad for consumption. I'm actually really pleased with a combined 23mpg:cool: Darren
  3. Will do. First off i have spent £70 on fuel and i'v covered 300 miles. Most of that was a steady 80 on the motorway home from picking it up. I'v booked it in for a full service at the cost of £280 at Steve Hill Motorsport. As soon as anything changes i'll let you know first:D It really is comforting to know that you are concerned for my finances though:thumbup: Darren
  4.:rofl: Its gone from the OP question to a d1ck swinging contest. Is it just me that thinks this has slightly strayed? The answer to the question above is NO. Its as simple as that. Now if i was to ask, Can you spend an absolute shed load of cash on an Octavia vRS and turn it into a totally different car apart from the shell. Could it then compete with an EVO that has had a shedload of cash spent on the engine? Then the answer would be yes. I'v thoroughly enjoyed watching this thread progress though. It certainly beats listening to my kids squabble over there toys. Darren
  5. I have sold the wifes Focus and am now looking to buy a 156 JTD for work. Cheap quick and comfy:cool: The EVO is a weekend car and for the wife to use during the week to go shopping. (20 miles per week) I still have my 69 Series Land Rover that has been rebuilt on a Discovery chassis for weekend fun in the mud:D Darren
  6. How much have you spent on your vRS to make it to the spec you have? I am in no means baiting but the money you have spent is obviously relevant. Especially seeing as that if i was to be silly enough to spend 20-30k on my engine i could then run 600-700bhp. Thing is, i'd rather NOT waste the money on an already quick car and actually use that 20k plus the sale of the car in 2 years and buy something like a Noble with a couple of grand extra. Then i could have a genuine super car with the respect that you are missing in your Octy. Mind you, i will atleast give you the MPG win from the off. If only i had an adult sized fuel tank i might be able to put my foot down for more than a couple of minutes lol. Darren
  7. Absolutely correct. I have just sold my Octavia hatch 04 vRS with 91k for £4200 and i now consider myself extremely lucky. Look on ebay, you can buy them week in week out for just over 2K. Darren
  8. MLR is Mitsubishi Lancer Register mate, and its a forum for EVO owners. I bought an EVO V in the end. I'm extremely happy with it but after my bad ownership with the vRS i'm still a little worried about planting my foot incase i break something:O Unless i get directed to a thread on Briskoda then i wont be arround as i dont own a Skoda anymore. I just had to make comment on this thread as i find it ludicrous that anyone can think the Octy vRS could keep up with an EVO. Remember the OP asked if a remapped vRS would stay with a standard 280bhp EVO and imo of owning both the answer is a deffinate no. If the Octavia was built to a better standard than i would say its an excellent car as the all round package is a good start but the crap suspension components and bushes plus all the other COMMON faults, for me, made it a bad car. Darren Darren
  9. I'v sold the Octavia and already bought an EVO:cool: I'v only had it for 2 days now but the 2 cars are a world apart in performance and handling terms. You CAN spend thousands on the Octy and make it quick and good at handling but i went down the fast car out of the box route. Yes i'v fitted into the MLR rather well thankyou:P Darren
  10. I cant believe this "can a vRS beat an EVO" is still going on. Without doubt, the octavia vrs stands no chance in any circumstance. YES people like Declac or Stevie (deep pockets) wonder have spend 10s of thousands on there front wheel drive Octy vRS. But the thing is, they still dont have the basic Rally car derived chassis AND engine. Pllleeeaaase, if you want a fast car then please just buy one from the box. Then you can buy a remap and make it a little bit quicker:D Darren
  11. Problem is that with the standard turbo the EVO can still achieve 350bhp and similar torque from a remap and the typical exhaust and decat. The Octavia vRS is a nice car to shuttle the kids round in (i did for a year) But if you want a fast car then buy one to start with. Darren
  12. Sorry mate but going from an Octy vRS to an EVO V, there is no chance that a vRS fitted with the K03s turbo would have any chance. The EVO is 280bhp as standard on book figures but normally show up about 290bhp on decent rollers. Plus the EVO is a little bit lighter.
  13. Totally agree with Greg. When i strippped my car to sell it, i took the Carbonio off and replaced the standard airbox. Throttle responce feels better with the standard setup. Darren
  14. From 9 months experience, this is by far THE most unreliable car i have ever owned. I'm a little bit worried though as i'v not had to replace the aircon clutch yet. I'll let you know how much it costs to get the pump replaced as thats bound to be what mine will need soon. Darren
