  1. 25 plate 1.5 petrol Skoda collected at the end of Sep on pcp finance. So only 5m old. For at least a month now I’ve been suspecting an issue with the suspension. Not sure if front or back but the ride seems much more ‘bouncy’ than I remember it being when I first had the car. I am also hearing intermittent noises like a very quiet knocking/thump noise when I stop. I feel like the acceleration is a little sluggish also but that is a sidebar. I’ve put it into the local Skoda garage to get checked over this morning and it’s come back with a full bill of health. Are they just telling me all is well to avoid repair under warranty? I’m just really wary because my last Skoda required the front suspension changed at 3.5yrs and for months before that it was noted as ‘misting’ but to keep an eye on. I don’t want this issue to develop and then I end up paying for new suspension again. Is the new car warranty 3yrs? If so do I just take their word for it and fight this battle later down the line if the ‘misting’ note pops up again at future services?
  2. 2021 Škoda Karoq 1L petrol. I’d previously posted about some coolant issues I’d had where it had fallen way below minimum and I topped it up and it has held since. I had the Škoda garage check it out and found no coolant leak. Considering putting it back in and getting them to run an actual diagnostic. Anyway so I am wondering from my googling if my thermostat is stuck in the open position? Would appreciate thoughts. Current observations: 1. The coolant dial does not rise smoothly. It takes a while to get off the mark (maybe 3mins?) then will rise a bit more and then stick there for a few more minutes and then rise a bit more and then stick until it hits the usual position (12 o clock). Usually in about 10mins I think. If I have used the car recently, and I go to drive again the dial will shoot up to 12 o clock in about a minute. 2. The oil temp never gets above 86°C by the end of my 25 minute commute. At least 15mins of which is done at 60-70mph. Is this normal? If relevant I live in Scotland so it’s averaging 2-4°C in the morning at the moment. 3. can’t be 100% sure but I feel like my fuel economy is down a fraction e.g maybe having to fill up a day or two earlier than expected. Normally I could get about 2 weeks out of a full tank. My family and I are due to drive down south in 5 weeks so would like to make sure the car is happy before then. Also for fuel economy reasons!
  3. Thank you, that’s helpful to know!
  4. Sorry should have specified it’s a 1L engine and the car was serviced at the end of July. I checked the oil level after topping up the coolant and it’s within range. For clarity it’s the coolant dial which is taking a while to get to 90, not the oil.
  5. Got a 71 plate Karoq with fairly low mileage (don’t think it’s above 40k yet). Recently I feel like my oil/engine temp gauge is slow to rise to the 90 position, maybe 10mins before it actually gets there. I’ve no idea if this is normal or not but it seems slow. Car sits at around 2500-2750 revs at 70-74mph. Again unsure if this is normal. Didn’t really pay much attention to the dial in the past! I can’t afford to put it in for a service right now unless it really really needs it so would appreciate advice on if there could be an issue needing immediate attention or not. Some background that may be relevant: A couple of months ago I got a low engine temp alert following my husband defrosting the car and also deciding to put on both heated seats to help it on its way. Anyway it resolved itself: I pulled over after 5mins, read the manual and when I switched the engine on again the alert was gone. No more alert issues until New Year’s Day when I had a coolant level warning. I drove the car home (20min) gingerly (no high revs) parked up and the next day found the coolant to be waaay below the minimum level. Surprised it had got so low before the alert. Anyway I topped up the coolant with the approved stuff (I hadn’t driven the car again until then). And the level seems to be holding since, although I will check it again soon and continue to for the forseeable. So I don’t know if something is not right with the engine or if I’m just being ultra paranoid since the New Year’s Day incident? I certainly seem to have become an anxious dashboard watcher since! I’d also be interested to know how long it takes other owners’ car temp needle to come up to 90 (or whatever your normal is).
