  1. Thanks Pete. It's appears to have connected fine, no error messages or anything. It also brings up the engine ECU information successfully. I'll try driving it and will post on here how things go. Thanks again for the info you've passed over.
  2. Thanks Pete. So that might explain if that fuse was loose then it wouldn't fire but very strange that it failed to start the day after, after a few miles driving and when this fuse was secure with no issues. I've managed to borrow a VW/Audio V2.7 Autel scanner but no fault codes are showing, the EML isn't on and the engine is starting and running fine this morning. @Breezy_Pete Do you know if VCDS Lite would provide any more information than this scanner. If not I'm thinking all I can do is run it around and wait until the fault comes back and if it does, plug the scanner in and also take note of whether the rev counter rises when cranking. Alternatively I get the VCDS Lite and do the same if it's better than the scanner.
  3. Thanks for the info. I have got two keys for the car and when it failed to start initially we did try both thinking it could be an issue with a key but neither worked. They have both been used regularly as me and my wife have a key each and have never had a problem with them, not to say there isn't one though. Unfortunately I don't have VCDS. I've just googled it and that could be a worthwile investment when finances allow. We've not had any electrical issues with either of our fabias so never had to look into any diagnostic gear. Must be lucky!
  4. I think you're right. I've just gone out, put the fuse #30 back in and it's fired up and runs fine. Testing like I did with just the ignition on, therefore no crank signal, meant the ecu opened the relay to stop the fuel pump after a second. That makes sense. The fault must be intermittent then (the worst!). I guess it could still be an issue with the crank sensor if it loses its signal for whatever reason, thus opening the relay.
  5. We've had it since new and has been faultless until now.
  6. Hello all! I'm really hoping you will be able to help me with a puzzling issue I've got with the car above. She will crank over, fire up and then immediately the engine stops. When this first happened, I noticed I couldn't hear the usual buzzing from the fuel pump so I checked the fuses below the steering wheel and found that fuse #7 (Engine Control Unit 1.2ltr 15A) was out a little and felt loose. I pushed it back in, now nice and snug and the fuel pump buzz could be heard again and the engine started and ran fine for a couple 10mins so that was that. The next day it started fine, drove for 5 miles and all was good. I came back to the car to start it and again it cranked over, fired and stopped immediately. No noise from the pump so I checked the same fuse and it was snug. Pulled it out and pushed it back in and no change. I then checked fuse #30 (Fuel Pump - Petrol Engine) and noticed there was no power there. I've done the steps below: 1/ I have 12V constant from the battery (B317) to pin 30 on J17 FPR 2/ I have 12V from the ignition switch (B626) to pin 85 on J17 fuel pump relay 3/ I have continuity from pin 87 of J17 FPR to Fuse #30 (B275) 4/ If I join pins 30 & 87 of J17 FPR the fuel pump runs fine and the car starts & runs 5/ When I put the J17 FPR back in, turn the ignition on, while checking the output of pin 87, I get 12V for about 1 second and then the relay clicks and it opens and back to 0V. I've tried two other known working relays and I get exactly the same result. If I'm reading everything right (please tell me I'm missing sometime), it's looking like the ECU (pin 26) is grounding out pin 87 of the FPR for about a second and then this stops and the FPR opens again. If the above is correct, does anyone know why the ECU would stop grounding this wire to pin 87? Thank you in advance!
  7. Hello, I'm Rob from the South West of England. Me and my family have been Skoda lovers for while now, my dad (sadly not with us anymore) had one of the first Skoda Fabia MKII's when released in the SW in Tangerine Orange back in 2007 and we want to keep it going for as long as we can. This one, along with a 2008 Fabia Estate are still going but they are requiring a bit more TLC. I'm hoping this forum will help in supporting to keep these going. The posts so far look really helpful!
