First test drive of a vrs - petrol & diesel
poonpatch replied to KIDD's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
You'll know when to change gear in the VRS - more so with the sound generator set to sport I've just gone back to a 220 petrol VRS - had one about 9 years ago and since then have been in various diesels inclduing VRS. If cost of running isnt your overriding factor then the petrol sounds so much nicer, the power just seems to keep coming and it puts a smile on my face like the diesel couldnt quite manage. My engine is fairly new but even on cold mornings I'm averaging 35-40 which is a mix of constant cruising and the occasional moment of fun The diesel is a great compromise as they are much more linear than the old big bang engines used to be - but - in my opinion - the petrol is a different level of fun. -
Broken Mirror with Pic - can I buy this piece?
poonpatch replied to poonpatch's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Thanks - I'll try and track down the part number - sounds positive though! -
Hi, Got a broken wing mirror due to some over zealous driving coming at me down at country lane. Piccie attached as I don't know if I can get this piece on its own - its basically the black piece of plastic under the mirror cap - its separate to the mounting so I'd have hoped/thought I could get it - I know where to source new indicator lamp/glass....but this is the final piece of the puzzle... Any help much appreciated!

Hi, My drivers side mirror on my 2012 octy estate has been given a good whack and some bits need swapping. The housing seems fine but I'll need a new indicator assembly (I understand I need to buy the indicator lamp and swap it) - and also a mirror - which OVi autos on ebay seem to be a recommended option.... One query - since been clouted - my left side mirror electrically adjusts fine, and the drivers side works fine too still - however when I adjust the drivers side - the left hand side mirror moves as well!!!! How the heck does that happen???? they both moved independently before and I can adjust the left side without the right moving.... Any ideas???? It's a weird one...any other suggestions on cheap parts would be most welcome! patch

Went from Octy VRS petrol estate to Superb estate 170CR. Never one moment of regret. Quiet, smooth, handles VERY well for such a huge car and get many more files from a tank...and I used to leather the VRS Only negative to the superb - it goes through front tyres quite quickly...especially if you use all the ponies! -
Headlights coming on when travelling fast
poonpatch replied to Professor's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
could be 135kmh is above the legal speed limit in the uk and the local law enforcement perhaps take more notice of cars with their lights blazing in the fast lane during the day -
I'm being offered 'cost price' tyres by a tyre fitter as I'm not 100% happy with the rubber I oringinally had fitted. Question is...what is cost price for a 225/45R17 dunlop tyre? What do the tyre fitting companies pay for a tyre they sell to me at £110?? any ideas anyone?

Spare Steel wheel available?
poonpatch replied to poonpatch's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
That would be appreciate if you don't mind.... -
I've got 17" wheels on my superb estate. No spare. I have got a spare 17" 225/45 tyre. Is it possible to just get a 17" steel rim and get the tyre put on this for my spare??? Something skoda can provide? Clueless on this sort of thing!

Just had two new tyres on my 2.0d superb estate. Firestone zs90. It had dunlops on previously with no issues. The ride is definately not as smooth and the slightest road imperfections seems to be transmitted to the wheel.... Had the wheels balanced (twice), and the car has just had it's first service where I asked them to check everything - no issues... Any experience of these tyres here? Are they just poor? Next step is to move them to the back....see if that helps...
