Hi all, looking for some advice. I am purchasing Skoda Superb 2018 automatic 2.0tsi 220 from a non official dealer after a year and half of searching and I have found out that despite having a full service history, it has not had a DSG box oil change and it's currently approaching 69,000 miles. Should have been done at 40,000 miles. The dealer has said he can do the oil change immediately if I want. Is there anyway to know if the Gearbox would have any damage? I really didn't want to look for a new car now as they are extremely difficult to find within my price range. Any advice?

Hi, finally bought a 2018 2.0 220 Skoda Superb after over a year of searching and am looking to get a reverse camera installed. I wanted to get an aftermarket kit and use the existing screen, but I spoke to a fitter who said that there is a risk with these due to the transformer / transmitter that it could make the display screen not work at any point, whilst another said it can't be done on any Superb existing screen post 2005 and another who said it can possibly be done. Needless to say, I am now very confused lol. Does anyone know anywhere where I could get the camera and kit from and anyone who can install it at a reasonable price? I am based around London

As I can't afford the 2021 2.0 190 bhp car and the 2.0 220 is too thirsty for my usual London traffic driving, I was thinking of buying the 1.4l - 1.5l TSI 150 bhp and remapping it. I have looked at several places that offer the service and it seems it can be remapped as high as 185 bhp and 316 torque. Just wanted to ask if this is safe for the engine and if anyone has done it and can confirm the difference it made?

Quick question, I have been looking for a 1.5l car but have now found a 1.4l car that looks good. Do you think it is worth waiting for a 1.5l or does it not make any practical difference between those 2 engines on the Superb?

Thank you. Just searched all the 2.0 L cars on on my searches and all are the 220 bhp version. Looks like the 190 bhp is hard to find but will have to keep an eye out.

Looking to get one used at one point, but just wanted to get some advice on whether the 2.00 DSG (217bhp) noticeably better than the 1.4 TSI (150 bhp). Obviously it will be a bit faster, but will also use more petrol, so just wandering about the performance comparison. Also, interested to know the driver experience difference between a TSI or a DSG engine.

Thank you for the responses. I was originally looking at getting another Octavia but read that the Superb feels much nicer to me drive. Can anyone who has driven the two confirm if there is indeed a difference?

Hi all, new member here hoping for some advice. I am looking to buy a used Skoda Octavia SE-L Automatic and was kindly hoping for some advice on a few things. With my budget, I would need to buy a car likely from quite far away so test driving isn't a realistic option unfortunately. 1) I live in outer London so do a mix of city, dual carriageway and occasional motorway driving. I was hoping to get the 2.0l TSI if possible, but wanted to ask if the 1.4l / 1.5l are quick enough if not as I do like want some shift from standstill and to be able to overtake comfortably? 2) Is there a big MPG difference between the 1.4l / 1.5l TSI and the 2.0 TSI. 3) I understand the 1.4l / 1.5 l has a dry DPG and the 2.0l has a wet DPG. Are they both reliable generally? 4) Is it better to get higher mileage e.g 65k - 80k or lower mileage at under 50k? I know many may say lower mileage but my worry is that a car that has a low mileage will not have been driven enough. 5) Any advice on where to buy privately as all the cars seem to be through dealers which charge a higher premium of course.
