Thank you, that makes sense. Do you know if its "normal" that both types can be used for the same model of car? or is this a mistake from the seller by including the wrong cable in the box?

Thanks for the pinout. I have been able to find the pinout online, but my questios is. if there is a naming scheme for the different versions. So far, i believe its the "40 pin" vs "52 pin", but dont know if this is the official naming. I believe my car has the 52 pin, but the radio i ordered (which was supposed to be for my specific model & year) has the 40 pin. I can also see, that not all "52 pins" are utilized on my car, so would it be "safe" to use a converter between the 2 or will that not work?

Im trying to install an aftermarket radio, It has arrived, but the connector seems off. A small bit of research online, and i see that there are multiple version of this quadlock connector available. but i cannot seem to find a proper naming scheme for what is which. The connector in my fabia mk3 looks like this, but the connector on the adapter that came with aftermarket radio looks like this. The pinout is completely different, ive notices the 12v connectors are in different places. I cannot find a naming scheme, so im very confused. is is possible to simply get a converter adapter and would it work or is this not the case?
