ACC vehicle detection switch
I've had the car just over a year now. I can't recall when I did the last update, probably in the last few weeks. I've only done the ones that pop up on the infotainment screen and I usually just press 'update now'. Thanks for the tip on the reset of the system. I'll give it a try if it persists after the next update. I might just run in standard cruise control for a while as I am still undecided on the adaptive side of it.

ACC vehicle detection switch
Hello. I have an Octavia VRS (71 plate) that has adaptive cruise control. When in cruise control I noticed it would occasionally recognise vehicles to the right of mine in lanes 2 or 3. I don't make a habit of undertaking so this would just be when in busier traffic situations and I was being overtaken by vehicles that wouldn't then continue forward. It would cause the cruise control to regulate the vehicle speed to prevent an undertake. I have just noticed it no longer recognises vehicles to my right and now continually recognises vehicles to my left, constantly cutting the vehicles speed when overtaking a line of slower lorries for example. It has made the cruise control almost unusable. I've found the setting to turn the vehicle detection off to use like normal cruise control but nothing in the settings to switch the vehicle recognition back to the right. It's as if there's been some kind of update that now assumes I am in a country that drives on the right. Any ideas why this has happened or what can be done to correct it?

Mk4 Vrs Seat Covers
I wouldn't even say high wear. Just a slight sheen in the middle of the lap of the drivers seat and a couple of bobbles in the fabric on the right shoulder side of the seat. All the plastic trims around the foot/leg areas, clutch foot rest platform, door handle plastics, centre arm rest materials and dash buttons are all in keeping with a 25k mile car (ie like new with no visible scratches etc)

Neither, about what you'd expect. Side bolsters of the seats are clean. Wheel and gear stick leather also in expected condition.

Mk4 Vrs Seat Covers
I just recently bought my vrs MK4 and has only 25k miles but after doing a thorough inside clean today I noticed the seat of the, er...seats are looking a tad shiny compared to the backs as well as a few threads looping out the sides which is disappointing after so few miles (my last Octavia MK3 had 80k miles and the seats looked brand new with a good hoover). I've trawled the message boards but all seem to be for MK3 and earlier with links that have expired so if anyone is reading this and can recommend some decent ones for a MK4 then please let me know.

Need one letter of a new badge!
I've had a rummage through the forums but couldn't find an answer to my particular conundrum. Washing my car today I noticed part of the little accent above the 's' has chipped away. It's annoying me. Is there one place that sells 'official' Skoda badges or are all the ones in eBay etc the same? The reason I ask is I can't be fussed with replacing the whole badge, just the letter s. If it's unlikely I'll find an exact match I'll just sack it off but any recommendations would be appreciated. For info my vehicle is a MK4 Octavia estate VRS in meteor grey. The badges look to be gloss black rather than matte. Thanks in advance

Spare wheel Octavia vRS
Thanks. I take it that was an 18 inch spare for a 19 inch wheel and the boot floor still closes on top even with that polystyrene tray with tools on top?

Spare wheel Octavia vRS
Thanks. I had trawled some of the threads already looking for clues but hadn't been able to find anyone saying specifically that they have the vRS (although it it may be that all the boot spaces are the same, however it looks like the vRS takes an 18 inch space saver and other models a smaller diameter space saver) and had changed from what's in my boot to having a space saver. I think I'll just order from the dealer and try and fit it on the forecourt, if it doesn't fit I'm guessing they'll take it back.

Spare wheel Octavia vRS
Hello. Below is an image of what came in the boot of my car when I bought it. A fairly useful air compressor and a completely useless can of foam. My local Skoda dealer has quoted me about 270 quid for the tool kit and 18 inch space saver with tyre. I know i could probably source the wheel cheaper but I'm thinking it would be easier to return it if for any reason it doesn't fit. Just wondering if anyone else has swapped out what is in the picture below for a space saver and tool kit. I'm assuming I'd have to remove what's in there at the moment to make room for the wheel and tool kit? Also would it need any kind of polystyrene surround/noise dampening? Thanks

Spare/space saver wheel Octavia MK4 estate
Hello. Bought my MK4 vrs last month and it came with the foam spray and air compressor which is obviously useless if you have a blow out. Rang Skoda the other day and they are quoting about £70 for the jack, tyre iron etc and another £220 for an 18 inch space saver with tyre. They've said it will fit my car which came with 19 inch wheels (I'm aware it's still a space saver and 50mph speed limit would still apply). I'm assuming if I order and pay for it through a Skoda dealer I could return it if it doesn't fit in the boot for any reason. I'm guessing I would have to take out existing polystyrene base pictured below?

MK4 vrs clima question
Maybe I didn't make this clear. I'm taking it off auto and selecting a fan speed and a temp such as 16 or 17 degrees. In my old Skoda Octavia and my wife's 20 plate karoq (which had the same dials), this resulted in cool air blowing through regardless of the outside temperature. On my new octavia when I do this it blows warm/hot air unless I select 'lo'. In any case it seems I've missed the point of new technology making the decisions for me in the name of 'smart technology '.

MK4 vrs clima question
Anyone know where the car measures the temperature from? It was about 5 degrees outside but much warmer inside, especially once I'd got going. Just give me a good old fashioned dial with red to blue gradient on it any day of the week.

MK4 vrs clima question
It's annoying that it has 'smart' clima whereby you can elect to cool your feet. If the temp is set to 16 (which would have blown cool air in my MK3) it blows warm air on to your feet. I hate to sound like a technophobe but these newer, all access via a welded on iPad, control systems are not for me.

MK4 vrs clima question
Yes it's all a bit frustrating really. All I want is a bit of old fashioned cool (not arctic tundra) air to gently blow through as I drive home from the gym but that option has been denied to me in the name of being 'smart'.

MK4 vrs clima question
No, Im not sure what the interior temp was at the time. Outside temp was about 5 degrees. Just seemed strange that any temp I chose from 20 down to 16 resulted in the same warm air being blown into the cabin. My 19 plate Octavia would happily blow cool air into the cabin around 16 or 17 degrees with no big jump from 16 to 'lo' as seems to be the case with my new vehicle.
