Hello everyone,
I’ve been struggling with my Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSI (2010, gasoline, 105 PS) for quite some time and could really use some advice. The car has had multiple repairs, but the problem persists.
Symptoms:
Sudden power loss & stalling – The car shuts off randomly after driving for about 20 miles, especially in traffic or during turns (90-degree turns seem to make it worse).
High RPM on inclines – On steep roads (6%+ elevation), the car shifts to lower gears and revs up to 4000-5000 RPM but struggles to gain speed.
Feels sluggish – General lack of power, even on flat roads.
DSG feels okay – I had the DSG checked and it seems to be fine.
In traffic before it shuts down, the engine temperature increases pretty fast.
Steady check engine light is always on.
Repairs & History:
Turbo replaced – The original issue was white smoke from the exhaust, sudden shutdowns, and failure to start. After replacing the turbo, the white smoke disappeared, but the power loss issue remains.
Timing Chain replaced – This was changed a year ago, and since then, the car has never fully recovered its original performance.
DSG checked – No apparent issues after inspection.
Questions:
- Could this be related to the timing chain replacement a year ago?
- Maybe a sensor or misalignment issue? Could a faulty fuel pump, injectors, or airflow sensor cause these symptoms?
- Any recommendations on what to check next? I appreciate any insights or suggestions.
Thanks a lot in advance!
