  1. Thanks for the replies chaps. I decided to give it a miss. It has spent most of its life in a coastal town which I guess may have contributed.
  2. Hi folks Just been to view a lovely 2013 octavia estate. All good except that on the last but one MOT it had the dreaded "rear subframe corroded but not seriously weakened" advisory. This didn't come up on any other MOT including the latest one. On viewing it did seem quite corroded under the rear but I have no idea how to gauge how bad it is. Has anyone else had experience with this or have comparable amounts of corrosion on their octavias? Corrosion aside I'd be happy to purchase but this is making me hesitate. Thanks for any input, pics attached
  3. Well now I'm confused 🤣 It's a 2012 2.0L 170 tdi vrs with the CEGA CR engine. So this would be a mk2 with a dpf I guess?
  4. Thanks for the input mate, reaffirmed what I was thinking
  5. Hi folks Thanks for welcoming me to the group I joined as I'm currently looking to purchase a used mk2 vrs. I test drove a petrol 2010 and loved it, all the comfort of my golf with a massive boot which is exactly what I'm after. However, during the test drive, the abs light came on. The garage scanned it and revealed a wheel speed sensor fault. No biggy but the scan also revealed a misfire on cylinder 3 which was not apparent from driving the car. The garage weren't interested in investigating further so I walked away fearing costly repairs imminent. Which leads me to here, I have seen a 62 plate tdi with 109000 miles. 1 owner, FSH, clean mot history, looks to be in good condition and nicely specced. Full leather, heated seats etc. Skoda uk tell me that it's a 120000 mile camblet interval on these with no time interval however I'd probably look to get this done as it's been around 5 years since last one and I've seen alot of conflicting info. Things that are making me hesitate, it's a good 4 hour journey for to view, it's sold from a garage as "trade" so no warranty etc. I'm assuming it's essentially like buying private? Also only covered around 4k miles per year last few years. Previous owner traded it in as not ulez so I guess that sort of checks out. I'm guessing this won't have done the dpf any favours. Anyways, thanks for reading. Any advice from owner experiences, things to look out for/check etc much appreciated.
  6. This could be me at the weekend. Going to view a 62 vrs tdi. How has it worked out for you?
