  1. Hello, I'm not 100% on this but I've had tailgate issue before myself. 2 known issues with tailgate is. There's a sensor inside the lock mechanism on the lid itself. You can spray it with some wd40 or similar over a couple days to give it a clean may eventually recalibrate. I'm sure if biot opens like halfway you beed to push gently until fully open then hold the button in for a sec so it remember it's position. Other opening problem is there's a rubber boot at top of lid were it attatches via the hinges to the car. The rubber boot had all the electrical cables inside it and can be split inside and may need repaired. Now the bcm. The no heated seats and dim dash and no interior lights etc are all signs of component protection being activated on the bcm. Now it doesn't necessarily mean it's faulty. May never have been faulty. As far as I'm aware Skodas first response is just full replacement. But it may have just had protection activated because there are further electrical issues. To clear component protection it needs to connect to skoda online server. In the case of mine I tried clearing component protection first and it wouldn't accept it which means it's corrupt in someway so I replaced with second hand bcm and re paired to car and removed component protection. Did the vw expert give you any warrenty? That would be my first thinking. But considering this is the second time in short period. I would be wanting to check other modules to. All these modules talk to each other and if they don't handshake properly it can kick them into protection mode. But as I said that doesn't initially mean it's a bad failed module. Just needs approved again. It's a pain in the butt as it all costs money and takes time. The boot can be also be a sign just like the lights etc but considering everything was all working after the 1st replacement then unlikely related. Unless you were very very unlike and the replacement module was already on its way out. Also this platform is very sensitive to trying to add certain features with the likes of carly and obdeleven etc. Sometimes it turns the feature on but car doesn't actually have the required electrics for it and then the module gets upset that it's not able to communicate with said new added feature. Then protection k8cks in as a safety feature. I hope you are able to get to the bottom of it. It sucks when it's not working properly and can't get answers.
  2. Hello again, yeah it's hard place to be in when you don't have the extra cash. To me it was worth the risk. But I was doing it myself. I ve always approached things differently to most people. If I can do it myself and its much cheaper then jackpot! But I also like to learn how to do these things even if it costs about the same as someone else to do it. As I love to learn new things and means I might have the knowledge later to fix something quicker and cheaper if it goes wrong again and able to help family etc if I can. So it may take time to find the replacement. As you know already you Need to use obd diagnostic to read module for model number and firmware or do it physically. My first question to the specialist would be has he done it before and is he confident that if you are able to obtain a used matching bcm that he will be able to fit it and do all the necessary stuff via vw online servers to unlock and adapt to your car. If he's confident in his ability then go for it. I would ask him for a rough estimate all in before hand to give you an idea if it's worth the hassle or not. If you feel like there's any hesitation from the specialists etc don't go through with it. Just hang off till you have the full £750 and pay the dealer for a guaranteed new part. Doing it yourself or with someone who is also going through the process for first time ie the specialist if he's unsure will cost you time and money and be a worse headache down the line. The dealer I'm sure if you talk to them nicely usually roll the diagnostic test into the total cost of the repair if you go through with the full repair via them ie they will wave the diagnostic fee but you would have to confirm this with your dealer before hand.   3. It depends on how helpfull the specialist is. You would need to ask if he is happy to try recode a used module. And what hes charging per attempt. You will also need to either ask the specialist to read the bcm and give you details like model number and firmware version for you to match the used spare part. Or maybe use a diagnostic tool like obdeleven yourself. But depending on how problematic the faults maybe you might struggle to access that info via obd. Other way is manually accessing bcm physically. The model number and firmware are printed on the case. A brand new one from dealer is Just under £500, as far as I remember. The other £300 is for fitting and coding. But guaranteed. You might even be able to use one of those little usb camera for your phone or laptop that goes into crevasses etc endoscope I always keep 1 handy. Means you may not actually need to remove/disassemble everything just to read some numbers. Buying a matched used 1 may work first time all going well. The link I shared above from eBay shop these guys seem good quick delivery and communication was great. It came with 30 day warrenty with some tape wrapped around it so if you break the tape to get to pcb etc then no warranty. So if you cant get it to pair then you could send it back for refund. But if you find one listed from them or message them via ebay they are quick to respond and help. But you need to also be aware there's risk here. The part might have further issues that may not be noticed till later. There's no real lengthy warrenty or guarantee. Costs could spiral quickly if the used part has issues as the specialist will still need payed for every attempt to recode. Also be aware of the time it may all take ie looking around for the part. Delivery. Etc I wish you the best of luck!
  4. It's the bcm module. It seems to be a common fault. It maybe the lights that have upset it but can't say for sure. Possibly just a coincidence. My Superb was working perfect. Came out in morning and all lights etc won't work dim dash Dim infotainment. This happens when component protection is activated. It locks the comfort features but car generally still starts and drives etc.The bcm had gotten upset by communication error or hardware fault. Could be a short or if you have alternator or battery issuesI think it may have been my alternator thats caused a power surge on its way out. Some have reported condensation or liquid damage from air filter box I know some have had issues with loom on drivers side door cables bursting/ puliing apart between car body and door. In most cases the bcm will need replaced. Either new or used is fine. It's easiest if it's from the exact same car with the exact same features. The bcm has a model number and firmware number. You need to match all of this. I would check for some of the issues that may cause component protection to be activated prior to fitting a replacement. You need to remove glovebox and glovebox frame from dash to access it properly. I have a 2018 skoda superb SE L 2.0tdi with almost every feature available so I needed the same model or something higher. I found the exact model and firmware. But wasn't from a superb. It was a tiguan. Which still works perfectly. I got lucky. But I was willing to do this as I already had the diagnostic tool to do this on my own. But It's not just the tool and software. You need to pay for a geko online slot to access vw/skoda servers. When you fit new bcm. Component protection will be activated again. My old bcm even when connected to skoda servers wouldn't allow me to clear component protection as I presume something become corrupt and it would always fail. Hopefully with replacement bcm you can get component protection deactivated then you can do a svm update so bcm matches your cars adaptations etc and also immo. You need to re pair all keys to car 1 after the other. The 1st 10 minutes connected to skoda servers will allow you to do this. But it's a little stressful and may take 2 online session to safely get it all done. I would say it takes a little degree of understanding the software and what each part does. If it all seems like too much I would just pay the £800 and be done. Buying the tool and software alone is a big risk as they are all clones not entirely legal what so ever and risk of further damage. But it is possible to do. Another option by the used bcm convince dealer to recode most will not want to touch it unless new module provided by them. Or find someone who offers vag coding service either in person always best or online ie pass through but still requires a tool and giving someone you don't know full access to your laptop etc if you go this route I recommend running a virtual machine. So again its not simple process but can be done. If your someone who messes around with your car and wants to add new features etc then do it yourself and figure it all out if not just get replaced from dealer. If you need anymore detailed info I will help if I can. But I would not recommend this route to the average person. Hope this helps you understand it a little more.
  5. So tried everything to get it all working a couple times throughout the day. There is no key adaption section anywhere in odis from what I can see. Which I think is because its mqb platform. It only shows if keys are adapted and what they are adapted to. So I took the plunge got geko again. Double checked the bcm by updating via svm again. Ran immo asked how many keys? Entered 2. Held first key to start button. It took a while but found it. Held 2nd key and no matter what it wouldn't find it. It got stuck in a loop just kept asking me to hold 2nd key. So I had to cancel. I only had 4 min immo left. I started again and couldn't risk trying 2 keys again so entered 1 and coded 1 key. It all works keyless and fob buttons everything! Really annoying though as both were coded to immo yesterday but for some reason the fobs didn't work after for locking and unlocking. I replaced battery in the 2nd spare fob yesterday before I started all this as car said it was low. I can only guess the battery is a dud. Anyway it's all working! I will try recoding spare key again maybe further down the line. I might by another spare or 2 try code them to. I originally had 3 keys but lost 1 in a lake in Poland. Lol That's a whole another story! 🤣🤣 Anyways thanks again. Ive learned a few things in this process and your shared info was helpful in sorting this out. Super appreciated!
  6. Hello again. So got used bcm delivered today. Was pain in the butt removing old one but got there! Lol So done what you said. And everything went well. All comfort features are back interior lighting etc. Car starts and drives. 0 faults. But I have only one issue Keyfob lock and unlock not working from fob buttons. I also have keyless entry that I think may also not be working as I can normally close door touch little sensor on door handle and it would lock and then unlock when I try to open door. Was trying to find these in odis but was struggling exactly where? Was trying to do it while I still had geko access and my laptop started having a moment and battery started going low so didn't get to to do it. Hoping to fix it tomorrow Did it maybe not authorised it because of certain geko access? I used 10min cp/immo + svm Also tried doing it with obdeleven but yet again struggled to find it. So again thanks very much for your help. Great to have all the features back after like 5-6 months since bcm started failing. Any further help would be fantastic. Not to fusesed about keyless lock and entry although it would be nice to have everything working again. Just crucial I get fobs to lock unlock again.

  8. Thanks again for all your help. So mines is 5Q0937084CQ which is on the high end already. Think it may be simpler to just replace with same bcm model. So if I buy one from alliexpress are they generally used or new? I had a look and most don't say anything. I'm assuming if it's from eBay or alliexpress they will more than likely have a vin already on them. First time doing all of this so just Nedd a quick rundown. If buy from alliexpress or used from ebay. I can't plug into car as I assume if vin doesn't match it would activate cp if not already activated. So give me a quick rundown from buying it to getting it in car. Do I have to run odis without it plugged in car? Or do I Need to edit eeprom with the likes of CH341A? Just a little confused on how to start the process without locking it. Most things I read say say you need to reset to blank ie virginise it first. Or something along those lines. As a said first time doing this. Don't want to buy a bcm then need to get another and another because I keep locking them up. Thanks again. Still don't know why the origional went bokers!
  9. Hello thanks very much for taking time to get back to me. So when I was connected via odis using 6154a and gecko online the checksum error is what came back. Because of this I checked the bcm for vin and it says null. I presume because vin says null and component protection is active I'm essentially stuck in a loop. Would odis engineering offline allow me to manually enter vin even though cp is active or is the first step always cp removal first as the bcm is locked out? Would it make any difference if it was removed from car and I use something like mpps v18 breakout with odis? Or should I buy used bcm with cp deactivated that matches my origional and change vin? But I also assume vin change can only be done away from car with obd breakout as cp will be activated if connected to car without vin change first. Again thanks for your time its much appreciated.
  10. 2018 Skoda Superb Se L 2.0tdi 150hp Hello did you ever find a solution. Have the exact same issue/faults. Car was working great and went out in morning and turned on ignition. All interior lights including footwell and led along dash and door not working and no heated seats. Car still starts drives etc. Exact same codes as above and component protection on central electronics and gateway. I connected to odis and tried clearing component protection etc. Does everything but odis comes back with a error. Component protection central electronics module failed. Faith error message FAZ9484E-Fehler:checksum-1 is incorrect I tried to code module and comes back with same error. I check info in module and doesn't show a vin etc. Even though I coded it. So I can only presume its corrupt and no longer holding information. Am I correct in thinking this? Will I need a replacement? What's my best bet buying a used 1 and trying to recode it or just taking to dealer and being done with it? Any help would be great! Thanks Best Regards Scott
