  1. One question on engines for anyone who has a 1.5tsi. Ive drove a 2l diesel for 10 years. My commute is 100 miles on the motorway but currently its only 2 days a week (use to be more) I do roughly 13000k motorway miles a year potentially a bit more going forward. Would a 1.5 petrol be worth considering or not powerful enough
  2. I think this is the direction im taking. Interior looks like a facelift but not exterior. But given the age, the offer skoda are putting out i can get a 3 year old SE-L for more or less the same price as what id be putting into this right now.
  3. Doubt thatll fly in term of consumer as i had doubts after the fact once i starting putting together costs. I am going to argue the toss though as they put fresh tyres on the car for the test drive but never MOT it (found that out when i called the garages for a quote) so potentially make the motor ombudsman aware
  4. I dont believe so. Still has the old skoda badge on the back end. But has the ventilated seats/columbus/virtual cockpit. When ive looked at 2018 versions they dont have the same interior.
  5. It is the top end of the budget. I got a 22 plate octavia last year love it from a mechanical perspective but ive had sciatica/back pain ever since and need out of the car my commute is 50 miles each way on the m6. Drove this for 2 hours did some of my commute and just no issues. For me, diesel (despite the cost), electric heated seats/dsg are a must to reduce any flare ups so covers most superbs these days. Ive got used to the virtual console and as much as it is a bit of a gimmick i do like it in the car. When ive looked at other options available at the 18k mark i think less spec vs 10k difference in miles. Have been searching last week or so and not much out there.
  6. Cheers. Struggling with a decent comparable really but think thats about right. one a year older more reasonably priced/slightly higher mileage. Ive looked at se-l/se-tech and varies 2k either way. I accept ill always pay more from a dealer but warranty is important. The way im looking at it its more of a 19000 car (to me at least taking account the increase part ex offer) and trying to not get stung as much on depreciation which i will in any event. This will be a car until it dies hopefully. If you get the lower spec depreciates more so but this will happen at a faster rate on the older car. Issue is i put a hefty deposit down before seeing it. Despite 99 they wanted more which was refundable until questioned today so its whether i am willing to loose it/balance out with a different car. Terms of work i think any car i get ill be in that ballpark of mileage 40k (ideally) will need the same work doing.
  7. Reserved a 2019 superb estate l and k 2.0 diesel, dsg with 55k from main dealer. It has the spec id want plus as an added bonus the virtual console, boot divider. It drove great but priced at 20k from a main dealer who is offering 15k for my octavia which is about around 1k more than competitors. Its been well looked after and excellent service although DSG and water pump needs doing and they aren't budging as it hasn’t reached there mileage interval. I know these need doing particularly the DSG. Do you think its a decent price? Just thinking is it on the high end with mileage or balancing out given then extra 1k on my part ex. Nearest offer fo my car was 14350 from another dealer and average is 13500-14000 from others. My main issue after a couple days following the test drive is the price. As its from a main dealer it comes with a years warranty so expect to pay a bit more. As part of prep its getting 2 front tyres (already done), front discs an pads, front shocks and bushes, service and brake fluid. I need to raise that it needs some other things doing which is rear arm rest not locking and wing mirrors when moving one the other would move in tandem. Id imagine the work is reflected in the price thinking about it just wanted peoples thoughts. Appreciate any advice.
  8. Cheers. I do like the estate probably more suitable and then some with a mediumsize dog but given the boot in the hatch it would be fine for the odd occasion shes in Thanks very much. Took it out today and despite being a lovely car I noticed the mpg wasnt great for me at least. It was worth the trip though totest it out and definetly has me debating the hatch now. I think its comparable to my octavia now and i only need the length anyway for fishing rods. Dog for occasional use but she doesnt go in the car much. I noticed the cabin was quieter than the estate which is a big thing. Somewhat noise sensitive and alays find like my ears are popping in the estate. How does the 1.5 do on the motorway mpg wise? I think its either this or the diesel in a hatch. When you say opening difference cab you expand on what you mean
  9. Thanks for everyones comments just waiting for dealer toget back to me on service questions. Question. There is a hatch with less adds but tsi engine in my budget. Also estate but se-tec and 200 miles from me. Bit concerned over distance selling but know im more protected. My question is though is cabin noise the same for hatch as estate?
  10. Thanks for that. Think the MPG might be slightly effected as ive just realised it has 19inch wheels and one thing i prefer about the mk4 octavia is less road noise than all the superbs i have driven. Any concerns on this service record. I seem to remember that people advised getting dsg done at 40. Is this the case with 7 speed gear box? Not necessarily keen on the every 2 year oil changes as i have always done yearly so would appreciate some advice on this.
  11. Hi all, About to trade in my octavia for superb as i cant adjust it and have continual pain in my back. Id prefer a 2.0 tdi or 1.5tsi. Ive already lost alot of money in the year and theres a 2019 2l 190 petrol hatch with dsg available. Which will only need 500 from me to trade in. My concern is i do about 12000 miles a year comprised of 10k motorway to get to work 50 mile each way. The other 2000 is short trips or days out likely on the motorway. How economical is the 190 to run on the motorway and what do people generally get on a 50 mile run. Is it unrealistic to think it could get 45-50mpg on the motorway? Last year i opted for the 2.0 tdi 150 which sees me getting 67-70 on average so a stark change likely but ill be in comfort. Id take a 1.5 tsi but means added cost of anout 2-3k on what available an less spec.
  12. So just received another letter from exec team. Still no response from dealership outlining the following: They have a driver in my area this week who can collect the car and courtesy to be provided to rectify works. Although still none the wiser over what exactly they will/wont do. All work will meet trading/skoda standards. Yet this wasnt done in the first instance hence my lack of trust with the dealership doing the work. They will not accept a rejection of the car but obviously would not offer this if they thought there wasn't an issue. As I am within 30 days do they have a choice in the matter? Dealership is fully aware i am on holiday at present and therefore unable to hand anyone the keys this week. So seems suspect we have gone from you will need to drop it off to someone can all of a sudden pick it up and we will do the work that should of been done in the first instance. Ive since raised the case with my home insurance and solicitpr is reviewing the file.
  13. I took it to my local dealer who identified additional issues at their request (I’d booked it in already but still was in line with what they wanted). Still no response from dealer but Manufacturer called and said they agree to fix if I bring it back to them only. Even though they said get it assessed by third party and get them to do work which is now not on the table. I think due to level of work cost factors are in play for them if it’s repaired. Simply put if they did the work like they should we wouldn’t be in this mess and I do not trust them to rectify the works given the issues over just two weeks. I’ve emailed the dealership no response so left with sending the letter of rejection to see if they respond to that.
  14. Cheers. In fairness it probably will. Diagnosed with OCD so this will likely consume my mind in terms of what if/what have they missed for some time. Thats kind of the reason i went with approved dealer as that work is meant yo be carried out for peace of mind. Which is why i said the choice is they accept the rejection or my local dealership does the work and they pay them directly. I will not allow them to fix as i have no trust in them so if they say so its a straight rejection. Given the amount of messing about i honestly dont want them to have my money but then ill have to cough up an extra 4k going elsewhere and to me its Is it worth it on something that depreciates anyway. The audi i test drove before this is still available only thing puts me off is high expense when things go wrong. Im more practical than that and whilst octavia doesnt have some creature comforts it has benefits elsewhere. I havent had a response from exec team as yet but responses havent really happened on wednesdays anyway so will give a call tomorrow to say that plus extra warranty as a minimum to cover any trust issues with it. Before i boarded my flight today the solicitors rang to say they accept the case so theres something in that
  15. The only reason im considering keeping it is that it does drive well on the road compared to few others ive driven. Also price point was cheaper than comparables available now but it really depends if they get their act together. Unfortunately im going on holiday today so thats cut into time. Luckily before purchasing the car my home insurance renewed increasing legal protection so ive also got that in the works if they **** about it gives me 90 days to unwind the contract and given what they’ve given me and what another dealership has said flagginh additional issues i think they really will struggle. Luckily my boss gave me a decent pay rise last week so im fortunate i can **** about with rentals if need be.
  16. So local dealership advised following Front discs and pads need doing as the discs are affected by heat transfer Undertray cracked and needs replacing New tyres aren't new as they suggest they are part worn. Still legal and meet approved standard but doesnt look great for them if they are saying brand new. No update to mib undertaken No breakdown kit, mats or umbrella. No correspondence from dealership for two weeks so ive said to exec team they can get the issues fixed and what was originally agreed to be done by this dealership or i reject the car.
  17. At the moment still in limbo. Had one phone call saying need a letter to reject which i already knew no response to emails since 8th may. Since then the executive team have said to they want evidence. Im fine with it but my local dealership only had availability for tonorrow to run diagnosyic. Theyve also agreed to do an MPC to check if it meets approved standards. I hand washed the car and scrape along rear bumper is much larger than originally thought but was hidden by the dirt layer. Unfortunately im on holiday from thursday so timescales are reduced in terms of sorting issues
  18. oh no i agree 100%. SE L is minimum spec as i found se tech seats did my back in a bit. So it will come down to whats out there whether approved or not. Even started considering should i extend search to the hybrid engine (not plug in) to at least get a few extra mpg out.
  19. Already avoided this thanks to helpful posts on wednesday. I dont know whether ive posted this part of the story yet though. Service manager called on thursday he actually wanted to listen to the issue i was having so i briefly explained brakes and said you can email further questions (which he hasnt) and id more than happy answer any questions. Due to distance they were trying to use the RAC cover to investigate the brakes on their behalf or alternative dealership (which have advised send it back over the phone as its their issue beforehand). Told the dealership the RAC isnt responsible you are and they are not skoda approved. He went quiet at that. The issue is i do like the car but the way in which it was sold, mistakes in the reports and information provided since with lack of clarity and the issue over brakes just means that what else has been missed. It could be minor could be a major fix which would be under warranty but thats not my problem if they did the job properly in the first place. If the car wasnt ready i could of waited a week and was told it would be ready first thing.
  20. But the part list you sent says new is that right? See attached photo if the lip as best as i can show i know not the greatest way of showing it
  21. Ok thats helpful. So when i did visit i originally said front discs appeared new. My father in law came round thursday and said front discs look original given that they included a lip rear look newer. The rear are smooth dont really appear any issues so i thought he might be right. The dealership has judt said discs and pads. They have never said which. IMG_2248.mov
  22. Yeah i understand that since reading up. Think the point i was trying to address is they said full service history i.e all items required were done before viewing which it hadn't but apparently they added later on the saturday to provide that full service. The point being at point of inquiry before placing the deposit it was misleading to suggest amongst several other things. Mot is stsmped at 10am both mot/service work was done on the same day apparently. Given they start 830 (allowing time to get stuck in etc) id imagine MOT was done first. Then brake fluid and rear discs/pads if they were done. To me MOT is just as it stands at point of testing. The previous discs could have been in bad shape and therefore should not of passed MOT or they just needed to meet approved standards so if service work was taken afterwards could have affected things.
  23. So bit of an update. Finally spoke to service manager (verbally) yesterday following receipt of outstanding documents. The following was discussed: He advised i need to send a letter if my intention is to reject. He accepted that documents should of been made available at point of sale which they werent and i did not know what had/hadnt been done. He has already confirmed these were locked away over the bank holiday weekend. In terms of service history i was told during my initial discussions the car had full service history. On thursdsy sales manager confirmed that as part of prep they undertook brake fluid change, oil and pollen filter. As such on my initial discussions it didnt have full service history and therefore potentially misrepresentstion at that time. AG Falco has helpfully provided service search (thankyou for this again). 6 days later it hadnt been uploaded from the service they told me they did during prep but appreciate this may be going through admin process. Given difficulties i have had though i find this concerning still. My issue now is whether to reject the car. Looking for alternatives there is basically a very limited availability of cars in this spec (manual/diesel) and none in white without going to significantly higher price point (which i can afford but then starts the stress of finding a car all over without anything in the interim). My other concern is whether they dispute my rejection and state nothing wrong with brakes when its back in their ownership and then take there own case to me. As there were things promised and not underaken as agreed already there is a definite lack of trust here and i want the matter simply resolved. After reading the unfair trading regulations i do think i have a case in this matter over lack of information/misrepresentstion over no information being provided/insurance terms when asked directly to make an informed decision on the car as this was only provided after the fact/things not being as they should. I have wrote a statement of events over what has occurred over the last week between me and the salesman and detailing the sales/service managers responses. Should i send this over to the sales manager for review or is this going to open even more issues for me.
  24. Thanks mate really appreciate it. The service they provided undertaken on 3.5.2025 is dust snd pollen, brake fluid and reducing agent. Does not include oil change. Although this was undertaken in january still i asked for clean service for my ownership. As it didnt pull through on Erwin does this look suspect to you? Or can there be a delay on the system.
