  1. i went down the route of replacing OEM springs with the same and getting Koni adjustible shocks on my mk1 combi about 10 years ago
  2. I'd be thinking immobiliser if it dies straight after starting. Generally when a fuel pump dies, you cannot start it at all. Get the car scanned for any faults and it might point you in the right direction
  3. Sounds like your alternator isn't charging the battery. Had something similar happen to my Father-in-law's Octy last year, with similar results. Best thing to do is find someone with a multimeter and measure the voltage across the battery when the car is turned off (should be around the 12V mark). Repeat the test when the car is running and if the voltage shows less than 14V, then the alternator isn't charging the car.
  4. I presume you mean inside the car? If so, then you might have a breather pipe on the engine starting to crack and its coming through the air con
  5. I'd be guessing that the head gasket is starting to go
  6. I have the same setup and have run mine for the last 50k miles without issue. It still bites hard even now. It won't be a problem with those figures.
  7. I read somewhere that taking a test drive and "activating" the ABS under braking means tha you don't need VCDS ?
  8. I've got the Neuspeed 28mm one on my vRS Combi. I had it fitted in about 30 minutes without issue and it is well worth it
  9. Hi all, Its been a while since we've had a meet and I've just heard that Jan Kopecky's Fabia WRC car will be in Autostations Skoda Dealer in Dublin from the 1st until 6th November. Anyone interested in visiting?
  10. They were standard spec on the Mk1's and the 17" were optional extras. As Higgy said, The Combis only came with 16"s
  11. I've the newspeed on the hearse and it does make a big difference to the handling. Its also very easy to install provided you have the eintire rear of the car on ramps/axle stands. I haven't yet upgradedd the arb on the front (although am running the modified part from the dealers (original bushes went and couldn't get replacement ones without a new arb)
  12. 00-D Octavia 1.9TDI with 451,000 miles on it....and she sounded like it when trying to start...He wanted a push
  13. I'll presume that one of the exhaust rubbers (they hold the exhaust to the car) have gone brittle and are now starting to burn. Probably best to get a garage that specialises in exhausts to take a look at te mountings.
