How many km is too many?
Thanks both! Seems there's a chance my car has a fair bit more life left in it. I live in a cold region, but not quite to the same extent as the Nordic region. I will proceed with the maintenance with this in mind, hoping to keep the car for many more years!

2012 Skoda Superb: Horn and Steering Controls failed after Ignition Barrel repair
I realise this is an old thread, but if anyone comes across it, having had three failed clock springs (don't ask) this 100% sounds like the clock spring. My symptoms were the same, airbag light, buttons on steering wheel not working, horn not working. My usual mechanic couldn't replace it as it needed to be reprogrammed with a Skoda computer, but if your mechanic had the computer it would be fine. Make sure they do actually program it (one of mine they forgot to, and the buttons didn't do the right things).

How many km is too many?
My lovely 2012 Diesel Superb has just passed 176,000km and is coming up on another timing belt/water pump replacement (I think? Last was done at 90,000). There's also some suspension parts that need replacing due to the age of the car. I'm wondering how many more km I could expect to see out of my car, to help me decide at what point the cost of the repairs are no longer worth it. I've had a search but I'm obviously not picking the right search terms, because I wasn't able to find the info. I'm the second owner and the car has been regularly serviced the entire time. It's done some decent highway miles, but does a fair chunk of city too. I'd like to think I'm not thrashing the engine. So, to any other diesel 2012 owners out there, how many kms have you got out of yours? Will 200 be it, or could I get to 300? I realise this question is a bit like asking how long a piece of string is, but figured I'd ask for some ideas.

4th clockspring in 2 years?!
thanks Andrehj! I'll make sure to bring that up with them when I drop it off next week. I'll also be asking that they don't have an apprentice do the work this time.

Bluetooth Greyed out, cannot play music
not sure if our cars are the same, and apologies if you've already tried this, but this is how I connect a new device: it's a little unintuitive as you don't use the centre screen. (I'm going off memory here as my buttons currently don't work, so excuse any errors. I've also got an Australian car so you might need to reverse the lefts and rights) using steering wheel buttons, click "back/return" (the arrow button). navigate down to phone, and then if you click the scrolling button on the right side of the wheel (once, or possibly twice) it will open up a menu. in that menu, scroll through until you find Bluetooth or add device, or something like that. from there it should be easy enough to add the device. you can only add 5 and on start up it will automatically connect to the last device that was added before trying the next one down the list. hope that helps!

4th clockspring in 2 years?!
hi all, long time lurker, first time joining/posting. edited to add car details: 2012 diesel Skoda superb, estate. my clockspring broke back in July 2023 and my usual trusted mechanic didn't have the ability to program it so I went to a local Skoda dealership. lots of issue talking them into preordering the part (they weren't convinced that "grinding when steering, no horn, airbag lights on, steering wheel buttons don't work" was the clockspring, should've been a warning sign). they replaced the part and forgot to program it, so I spent 45 mins after pick up hanging around waiting for them to program it. less than four months later (Nov 2023) the new clockspring snapped. about 3000km in. luckily under warranty, so again, I try and convince them to preorder the part. they refuse, and I'm car-less for two days. on the plus side, they actually programmed this one. now jump ahead to tonight, and while reverse parking I hear that dreaded click of the spring snapping. within a second of me saying "you've gotta be kidding me," the airbag light is on. obviously the steering wheel buttons are dead and the horn is nonfunctional too. we got about 25000km out of this one. now, I'm pretty sure I'm covered under a two year Skoda parts warranty so my question is, how is the Skoda dealership stuffing this up so badly? should I try and ask for a refund, or keep asking them to do better? are there any hot tips I can give them on how to install this thing properly? am I wrong for expecting that this $1100 part last more than 18 months? for context, on the second visit, the dealership performed an emissions recall and didn't tell me. car drove awfully for months as it relearnt to drive. I only worked out what had happened when I googled a mysterious code scrawled in the back of my service book.
