Electrical fault?
Thanks for the reply :) On mine, the hub and bearing are a combined unit, which does add to the cost, but all four have been replaced, turns out they all had play in them and had seen better days - What I can't work out, is that the front sensors are reading the vehicle speed, and they do have power, if I unplug the sensor, the scan tells me straight away ... So it is registering the sensor, but won't read anything apart from the vehicle speed. I've had plenty of cars and motorbikes over the years, but this is the first "modern" vehicle I've had, and with how this is going, probably the last too.

Electrical fault?
Hi all, My 2016 Octavia 1.6tdi (dsg, 145,600 miles) has started to have some kind of intermittent electrical problem, it started around 2 months ago after hitting a pothole, and VCDS subsequently showed issues with the wheel speed sensors - These got replaced with ATE sensors (the same as what was originally on the car), this cleared the fault on the rear, but still showed a fault on the front. I've since changed the wheel bearings on all corners of the car, using genuine FAG parts from one of the local car stores, I also double checked the wiring for the sensors and whilst dirty, they appeared intact - Doing this cleared the remaining sensor fault, but in it's place I've now got two more error codes, showing: 0003 - Brake Electronics 8281 - U112300 Databus error value received 0003 - Brake Electronics 8296 - U112300 Databus error value received This is intermittent, and when it does occur, it knocks out the start-stop (which is fine, I've disabled that anyway), park pilot, tire pressure monitoring and also shows up an ESC error. This error flags up in three different control modules, starting with the Brakes, then the Engine and finally also the Park / Steer Assist - I've used double checked the information that the sensors are sending, and the back wheel sensors are showing rotation, air gap, speed etc ... The front sensors however, are only providing the speed, it point blank refuses to show any information in the remaining boxes, including not setting any air gap - This is happening on both the front left and right sensors. To add to the issues, not long after this started to happen, I also began to experience intermittent stalling, cutting out whilst driving, and cranks but no starts - In the end, it led me to replacing the battery (4 year old), and also replacing the Crank and Cam sensors for genuine VW sensors, which I had hoped had sorted the issue. Until today that is, approaching a roundabout I had the trio of dash lights appear (pp, tpms, esc), followed by a sudden loss of power, this was quickly followed by the car completely cutting out on me and me having to coast the car into a suitable safe spot, on trying to restart the engine, it cranked once, then nothing - Very much like a flat battery would do, however the battery on the car is perfectly fine. I plugged the diagnostic's into the car, and had the following errors: 0001 - Engine Electrics 16114 P008700 Fuel Rail / System Pressure Too Low (I think this was a result of me trying to restart the car) U112300 Databus, Error Value Received (believe this to be linked to the brakes) G28 - Engine Speed Sensor 13184 P032200 Ign/Distributor Eng. Speed Inp.Circ No Signal 0002 - Transmission Electrics G182 - Sensor for transmission RPM 10657 P072600 Engine Speed Inp.Circ Range / Performance 0003 8281 U112300 Databus Error Value Received 8296 U112300 Databus Error Value Received The wiring on the wheel sensors and in the engine bay has been visually checked for problems, and all appear intact, and actually moving the wires with the engine running does not cause a problem, the wheel speed sensor wiring has also been tested, and is supplying a stable 12v - I have spent a small fortune on things this month, and am now suspecting this is due to some kind of electrical issue, as the mechanical side has all been done (either tested or replaced with genuine parts), but I am honestly unsure of where to go from here with this - When replacing the crank sensor, the teeth were checked and showed no signs of damage, and no metal shavings either, and the car can run fine for days, before hitting this rather dangerous cutting out problem, this could be from a cold start or a hot start too, so any pointers on this would be very much appreciated. In relation to the wheel speed sensors on the front, I'm also a little bit lost on this one, as they are both picking up the speed, but not setting the air gaps nor providing any further information, which I am guessing the other systems on the car needs, but again, the frequency that this throws up error codes is also very intermittent, so I need a few pointers here too please. Sorry for such a long winded post, this has been driving me absolutely mad the past few weeks, and I have done everything that you'd usually do in order to fix this, but it is still occurring, and I am nearly at the end of my tether with it.

Hello from Pembrokeshire
Just a quick hello from a currently sunny Pembrokeshire - I drive an Octavia 1.6tdi (2016), have had it since November, prior to that it was a Bongo, will be posting in the technical section soon due to issues with the Octavia but thought it best to introduce myself first :)
