Hi, I've had a mechatronic unit failure on my 2018 Octavia Scout, diagnosed by my local VW specialist as a problem with 'TRANSMISSION VALVE 3' - it fails their test programme on this every time. Car not really driveable (stuck in 2nd, no reverse) I thought a good solution would be to get Mechatronic unit removed, and send off to ECU Testing, but I've spoken to several garages who all said the same thing 'don't do it!' due to 'fixed' units not working correctly. They won't do the removal/refit for that reason. I found another similar company called 'Control Units' in Devon who also do repairs, and have good reviews. The offer a 'drive in, drive out' service. Just awaiting likely total cost. Has anyone used them, or can recommend a similar company please? I'm thinking it would be wise to get fixed under one roof, as local garages aren't keen to get involved with removal and refit of units, and there's a question mark over the post-fitment re-coding or reinitialisation. New mechatronic supplied+ fitted is around £3,500 but my car has done 147k and is only worth about £5-6k as private sale. Was thinking of selling anyway so not keen to throw this much at it, as it has a few other issues that need sorting too.. Alternative is sale to webuyanycar or Copart as a non-runner. Any advice welcome. Thanks
