  1. Hi all, still struggling with an intermittent no crank/start issue. Can be fine for a few day's then suddenly return. Once it starts it runs fine. Basically not turning over, i hear the solenoid engage but that's it. So far, replaced battery, starter and solenoid and main earth strap from engine to chassis. No error's showing. Any thoughts? Thanks
  2. This old chestnut sorry. Not looking for a fix particularly, just curious how it actually affects the running of the car? Or is it that people like to spend a load of money purely to remove an error message? Thanks
  3. Hi all, having had some starting issues due to a bad earth on the engine block i was thinking of adding a secondary as well as replacing the bad one. Seeing as they are just a few pounds might be a good preventative in the future. Where would be a good place to fit a second earth strap? Thanks
  4. Hi, also won't start in N. However think i might have found a visual clue. The engine earth strap was touching on the side and looks like was arc-ing across.
  5. Hi all, ongoing saga of intermittent no crank issue. Took the car in for a full service. When i collected the car they asked if i'd ever had issues with starting which i never have. Was ok for a day then started intermittently getting worse, just no crank at all. Can hear solenoid engaging but not trying to turn over. Any possibility they have damaged something during the battery load test? Took it back to the Garage they have had a look and say showing strange power fluctuations, they are not a skoda dealership. They suspect is a failing diode below/behind the fuse box in the engine bay. Would this make sense to anyone? Unfortunately their auto electrician is away for two weeks so they can't look into it further. Thanks guys.
  6. Hi all, still struggling with an intermittent no crank issue. Any suggestions of things to check in order? Thanks 1000003032.mp4
  7. Hi all, wondering if one of you clever clogs can help. Not sure if things are linked in anyway but will just give you what i have. 5 months ago heard a warning deep and an error came up on dash, went away so quickly i could never read it, would happen now and again sometimes not for weeks! Finally saw it and was the "Error workshop! Only leave vehicle in P position" error. Not seen this error for a good few weeks now. Took the car in for a full service (not a skoda dealership) called them and they were about 3/4 way through service and they asked if i had ever had issues starting it. Never had an issue always started on the button. Collected car and was fine, 3 days later wouldn't start again. Eventually started it. Thought it might be the starter solenoid, tapped it with a hammer. Car started. (This could be a total coincidence). Was running fine and so i decided to fit a new starter/solenoid and battery and replaced the signal wire to the solenoid. Started first time no issues. Assumed was the solenoid and all fixed. Just happened again, Any clues? Thanks fabia.avi
  8. Hi, just re-igniting this thread as i am facing the identical issue. Any resolution? Thanks
