    Very helpful thanks

All useful stuff thanks folks. Tempted by sport line edition 2wd which I think is under the 40k threshhold without extras. I fondly remember my Mondeo with heated windscreen and living up in the north Wales hills it would be a nice feature. I wonder if Trump's war might have at least a short term influence on petrol car prices. I don't need to buy until mid to late April so will closely monitor autotrader etc. but wouldn't rule out another se-l......
  3. First world dilemma I would concede.... I had an SE-L which I sold with a view to going electric. Decided now that this move may be premature, and I will go back to a karoq (lesson learned). I am very tempted by a sportline edition. Mainly because I like the panoramic sunroof - my old kadjar had one which made the cabin light and airy - but especially because of the heated front windscreen. That said, I'm troubled by the bigger wheel offering and lack of the SE-L seat material. I also read a few posts here which suggested more issues with the sportline. I appreciate that these decisions are always a personal thing, and it depends on the weight given to the different options. But interesting to hear views - especially from anyone who has experienced the heated windscreen. many thanks
  4. Crikey isn't that curious. We seem to have pretty much the same car but different specs....
  5. Thanks for the prompts. I had a look at the myskoda app which states that connect and infotainment are active to Jan 2028. They both also say "try free for 3 months" but I trust that the active until date is the key one. I wonder what the cost to get map updates and traffic will be when they do expire. Also re the dash cam interference with DAB radio observation. I too have had a roadangel dash cam fitted. Works very well and there is no impact on DAB reception at all.
  6. Interestingly, the storage box on the dashboard is missing in my 74 reg 1.5 SE-L. I also have SKODA written across the steering wheel rather than the badge, so I guess my car was just on the cusp of some of the recent small design changes. PS: prompted by looking at your comprehensive initial post: I haven't been able to establish what my infotainment online lifespan entitlement is yet - I'm sort of hoping it will be 3 years as I really do like to have updated maps and live traffic in particular. Also - I'd have thought that the connect functions for service etc would have been a lifetime thing. How else do we access records or change dealerships for service and so on? Perhaps some of the functionality is always there (?) I will have to ask my local dealer how I access these things if they do expire at some point. I suspect (hope) that some kind soul will advise/correct me on here. Please bear with me folks - I will get there eventually....!
  7. Ah, well I've concluded that I'm also going back a bit! But the karoq is seriously growing in me. I should probably not be so impatient, especially when taking a modern car with so much technology to get used to...
  8. Well, as the original poster I have to confess that I am actually coming around.... I have managed to get the setup right for me in terms of handling and gear change. The car handles well, seems solid and economical and I am much more settled with it. I drove a Kuga recently which felt much less nimble and certain than the karoq. The speed bongs continue to irritate a little, especially as the sensor seems to have a lag in detecting that I have left a 20mph zone; and lane assist keeps thinking tarmac strips are white lines. But at least I can disable both quickly. So, for those of you who remember the last line of the old Bob Newhart Camp Granada song, "mother, father kindly disregard this letter..."......!
  9. Yes indeed they do, sadly. I'd have thought it might be possible to set the trigger level for speed alert dings permanently to 5 rather 3mph above the limit - that would have been fine for me. But alas, that too resets at every restart. It is frustrating. I shall have to wait for the OBDeleven lot to "crack" the code of 74 reg and later cars so that the alerts can be tweaked or turned off. I may be waiting some time.....
  10. Well first one done early was oil change service. Next one in June 26 states oil change. And yes, December 26 just states inspection. I wonder why everything is so complicated. Or perhaps I'm just getting old and senile!
  11. Curiously, my car is showing that the next service (following the oil change pre-delivery at 3,655 miles in June) is due at June '26 or or 8,999 miles; then the one after that at December '26 or 14,500 miles. So it seems that I have both fixed and variable requirements simultaneously.... Skoda advised me that I was on the variable interval - but it seems as though having the first service has sort of triggered me being on the fixed at the same time! Hopefully a trip to my local dealer can resolve this. I hope they have the capability to correct things and put me once and for all on the fixed interval option. .... it's just another irritation at the moment to go with the jerky gear change and the driver assist functions. I am pining for my old Kadjar !
  12. I could accept one ding ding alert - but when I go one mph above the setting then one mph below and then just above again, the alert sounds again. So it regularly scolds me. One might say that I should just stay below, I fully accept - - not always easy on our 20mph roads with impatient souls behind and the natural small drift up and down........ Ah well....
  13. Thanks for the quick responses. Yes, car was from a Skoda dealer, but a long way from where I live. I've registered the car to be serviced etc at one local to me so i guess that's where I should direct any queries. I'll take your advice and see if I can drive a demo car - mine is only 6 months old and has fewer than 5,000 miles so it is pretty recent and, I assume, comparable to a demo one. The lass's car is an A3 1.4 PHEV. I assumed same gearbox but perhaps naivety and ignorance on my part. Incidentally, Skoda seem to have confirmed that my car now thinks it is on both the variable and fixed service intervals simultaneously - don't ask! I have no idea how this is even possible, but I hope the local dealer can change it to the fixed interval. So not a smooth and joyful experience so far alas. Anyone want to buy a car????
  14. Well, I've had my 74 reg karoq (1.5 SE-L) for three weeks now. Still adapting, I appreciate, but there are two areas which I'm especially uncomfortable with and where advice would be welcome: I find the DSG gear change really jerky and laggy - quite a contrast with my partner's Audi A3 DSG which is incredibly smooth - I'd have thought the gear change experience would be similar. The lurch and gear change noise when I push the pedal down gently when going uphill is very noticeable in particular; The speed alert ding ding which I can't turn off permanently, or permently change the alert threshhold from 3 to 5 mph, is pretty tedious. For someone living in Wales where my main road has 16 changes in speed limit in a 5-6 miles stretch as we go in and out of 20mph zones it is especially annoying (and please don't have a go at me for "speeding" - I'm a trundler really - but these 20mph zones are, with one exception, on roads where there are no schools and few houses too, and just a tiny drift above 20mph and it's "ding-ding"). The alert often doesn't seem to recognise when I've left the 20mph zones either so scolds me inapppropriately. I don't mind the visual alert, but the noise is another issue. So - a good ride and driving position, but the gear shift experience and warning systems are a real turn off. Moreover, I understand that I can't do anything to fix the alerts permanently using an OBD device on 74 reg and later cars. Does anyone have any advice on the gear change thing? I guess the answer is to go to a local Skoda dealer and ask them to drive it and advise. The alerts I will have to live with or just keep turning off every trip I guess. Sorry if this seems like a bit of a whinge, but I confess to being a little disappointed at the moment!
  15. that's very useful thanks. I was loose in my terminology - I really meant a service to specification. Anyway, I will talk to my local dealer and see what they recommend.
