Hi hill, and thank you very much for getting back to me with such a detailed response with all the info I wanted. A month has passed since I made this post and I was unable to find help anywhere. What I ended up doing was contacting a reputable shop down south and taking their recommendation of a shop up north. I'm booked in next week for fitting of what I consider to be a very expensive setup, akin or above what you recommended as the tuning will be professional. Hopefully I'm pleased with the result and will report back here! (If not immediately then eventually when I have time).

Recently picked up a 2014 Octavia Diesel Manual VRS and wow, I love it. However the sound quality is just awful! I don't have Canton, but I did upgrade the mib1 head unit to the mib2. After a lot of kind advice and money spent with local car audio shops, there's been virtually no improvement. I could only find one success story on Briskoda, but that person was upgrading 10 years ago with Canton as a base which appears very different to work with. I would really appreciate any advice or ideas on what I can buy for the best quality sound (speakers, amps, subs, dsp, etc.) Even shop recommendations in the North of England, since the known good ones are far in the South, and it's not practical for me to leave my car with them for a week.
