  1. Ah thats good to know, i've always avoided disconnecting it as i've heard that the throttle body would need reseting. Last year i used a motorbike trickle charger to charge it (output of 0.6A) and it took about 65 hours to top it up. I'll give it a crack with my 3.6A charger when i get home. Thanks for the reply, Shaun.
  2. Hi all, i wish to charge my battery up sometime soon as it seems to be getting a little flat. If i disconnect the battery to do so will i need to get the throttle body reset? or can i just connect it back up and carry on? My charger has an output of 3.6amps, could i charge the battery with this without disconnecting the battery? Thanks for the help, Shaun.
  3. Send me a PM with the 'right' price. What make are they? (edit just seen they're thule in the post above) Cheers.
  4. just to throw something else into the mix, have you checked the wire on the sensor? My light came on last week, turns out the sensor wire had come undone. Shaun.
  5. thanks for the help, just need to find some on ebay at a good price now. Cheers.
  6. Hi, I've been considering buying some roof bars for my 2001 octavia hatchback to fit to the mounting points on the roof so i can then carry a roof box when needed. My question is how do these boxes mount to the bars? Obviously by using the mounting points on the roof for my bars they won't be adjustable back and forth like they would be if i used roof bars that fit onto existing roof rails. Do the boxes come with adjustable fixings or are they car specific? If anyone has any photos or the fixings or boxes fitted to octavia hatchbacks that would be great. Hope that makes sense, Thanks, Shaun.
  7. Hi, i'm sure this has been covered before, but i couldn't find a deffinate answer. Do skoda still sell/make a dog guard for a Mk1 Octavia hatchback? If so has anyone got any more information? (price, part number, photos, etc) Thanks for the help, Shaun.
  8. Hi, i'm currently looking for a pair of wiper arm caps for a 2001 octavia. Due to my own stupidity a couple of weeks ago i dropped one into the engine bay never to be seen again, and i placed the other one somewhere for safe keeping and now i can't find it again. Does anyone know where i can get some without it costing me a fortune? Or has anyone got any tips for something else i can use instead? Someone breaking a car on ebay has quoted me £9.99 posted Thanks for the help, Shaun.
  9. just booked the one side in for £106, which seems a bit more reasonable, the guy said the other side could go but springs are better than they used to be so its not always as case of doing them in pairs anymore. I'm planning on changing the car fairly soon so fingers crossed it will be ok. As i said before this one has been broken for about 3 years and this is the first time its been a problem. I could probably take it somewhere else and it gets passed, but i think its about time i got it sorted. thanks for all the speedy replies. Shaun.
  10. ok, thanks for the replys, i'm now waiting for a couple of call backs about quotes. cheers all.
  11. Hi, i'm just after a bit of quick advice, my car has just failed its mot due to the offside front coil spring being snapped. (i've known its been snapped for a while and it has passed at least 2 mots and it hasn't been picked up.) they are quoting me £130 to repair it, but they are suggesting i replace the nearside at the same time at the cost of another £130. So what i need to know is - is it really nessecary to get both done? my car is not sporty and i'm not too fussed about the handling. so its basically a price issue i have with it. Many thanks for the help, Shaun.
  12. If its noise you want then go for the split-r in your first point, there has been plenty of posts on the forum about them, in the long run it will be cheaper than buying an 007p and CAI. Shaun. edit - just found a video on youtube.
  13. A forge 007p is what most people have, but if you do a search you will find the splitter one in your link is suitable too.
  14. thank you for all of the replys, some interesting reading. Do i need to do anything to the actual n249 or can i simply unplug the pipe from the top of the dv and seal with bolt or simular (leaving it in place), remove the pipe from the box on top of coil pack 4 and seal with a bolt or simular (again leaving it in place). Then bring a t piece off the fpr to the top of the dv or am i missing something important? I'd rather not touch anything i really don't have to in fear or breaking something or making it worse, also this way if i need to i can just reconnect everything. Sorry if i'm being dumb but there are so many guides out there and some of them are quite complex. and finally what size pipe will i need? so far i've seen 3mm, 4mm and 6mm? which will be best? Many thanks, Shaun.
