So it’s Ireland I am looking at for both models, like for the 4 months I’ve owned it, it drove like butter. There was 60,000 on it before I got it and a good couple of times the issue of the noise from 1-2 happens. Again this is my first dsg and just don’t want a large bill down the like. I have had manual for years and never a bother and enjoy driving them. So it wondering do I switch back for peace of mind (and gear box)

So back in December I changed from a manual Scala which I loved and a got a mk3 2019 Octavia 1L tsi dsg. It has 70k on clock which I think would think is low. Now just over 4 months driving it and it has had the odd whirling noise when taking off from a junction between 1-2 gears. It is going back into the garage for a check on this as it’s under warranty for a year. They do have a 2021 Octavia manual, similar mileage. But they want 6k to change up to it. Would that be a mad change?? I feel I have dsg fear that the gearbox will fail and cost me more in the long run. It could also be nothing as I have only heard it happen 3-4 times since I got it and not sure how the previous owner drove it.

Not sure if it has a coasting mode but it definitely has hill hold assist so have been able to use that. Just trying to get my head around my driving style with the dsg and the amount of pressure on the pedals vs manual with clutch I could control. I do love the ease of gear changes and how smooth they are. In terms of oil change, I think as it’s going fine I’ll leave it be

So I have made the move from a Scala to a mk3.5 Octavia and it has a 7speed dsg in it. Now I know that dry clutch has a bit of a bad rap and there is no service for the oil. I am thinking if getting the oil changed after some time. It’s 2019 and has 63km on it so low enough milage so hoping between 80-100 to get it done. My next thing is getting used to driving dsg. I have driven manual for yearsss and have my own habits like rolling upto lights in neutral or if coming upto a junction I know how to take it. With dsg things are feeling a bit different. Even taking off, I’m not sure how long after I let my foot off the brake to start accelerating. (Probably a silly question but I’d rather not slip clutch) Is there any tips for getting used to it?

I am looking to see what bulbs are the best option for mk3 ŠKODA octavia 2019 model. I know they’re halogen but seeing what may be the best legal way to get a whiter light or even LED in Ireland.

Yeah I am due to change belt and brakes on the Scala. Similarly the Octavia I am looking to change to needs both done too which garage is going to do can only see it as an upgrade

I didn’t know about that. Still not sure to change or not. I can see a positive in bigger size of the Octavia and bit more comfortable. There’s a few small differences between them but not sure to change.

So I currently drive a 1.0 petrol Scala 2019 model. 60km on the clock, brakes need replacing, timing belt, full major service and also my condenser needs to be replaced as it’s damaged and leaking. I have been offered a mk3 Octavia Dsg 1.0tsi with same milage. Is it worth the upgrade/downgrade of certain items for more space and the items on the Octavia such as brakes and belt are being replaced as part of a trade in.
